Regarding bug reports in general; not necessarily this exact issue:
I’ll just mention that there’s generally wide-spread misunderstanding on how Bug Reports work, and that’s not necessarily the customer’s fault in many cases. Blizz doesn’t outright explain that a Bug Report is basically the instantaneous end of the customer’s involvement. They kind of leave it open as the next step, as in, “for further help please post in Bug Report.”
Well, yes, it is further help. Down the line. Soon™. If and when.
It is not further help as in, “we’ll get back to you in 2-7 days, like a ticket, and we’ll keep you updated on what’s going on.” Bug reports are virtually never responded to (peruse the Bug forums), people are extremely rarely asked for more info, and updates or ETAs are never, ever given. The proof’s right there in the Bug Report forums; don’t take my word for it.
When players drop a bug report, that’s the end of their involvement. It’s the last step a player takes before putting the issue out of their head, moving on, and either playing a different portion of the game or doing something entirely different altogether.
After dropping a bug report, one trusts (and that’s all we have; you must trust) that it’s been absorbed into the system. And with all the current discussions over Threads of Fate either being removed or not working properly, Blizz knows about this. They’re not out back playing Penny Can.
Then, we all wait. We wait until a hotfix, we wait until an announcement, or we wait until the next patch notes say the thing has been fixed.
Or if it’s never fixed, and that’s just how Blizz wants it, then same thing. We either keep waiting and hoping (useless at that point) or we move on.
Again, not necessarily the customer’s fault. It’s not really made clear that dropping a Bug Report is one’s last stop on the way to forgetting the matter and doing something else.
This’d be me, if I were the one writing the scripts, but I guess that’s neither here nor there:
“We’re sorry we cannot help you at this point, and we understand your frustration. Please utilize the Bug Report forums (read and follow the stickies) to describe your issue so that our teams can work on it further! Our apologies, but please be advised that no further communication will be had once you provide a Bug Report, no ETA is suggested or implied by leaving a Bug Report, and providing a Bug Report is unfortunately not a guarantee your issue will be fixed to your satisfaction.”
