With the mount being accessible in NA since Thursday I hear players still have issues with the mount not working on all characters, so I guess it’s time to copy this Topic from PTR to the Retail Bug Forum:
We see some weird things happening when different characters use the mount/treats:
- Changing the color to standard Teal on one character forces the whole account to use Teal, but at least all characters can properly ride the mount.
- Changing the color to something other than Teal on one character bugs the mount for every character who was never using a treat or a Teal treat as their last color changer (cast channels but the character won’t be mounted when it finishes)
- When we switch away from Teal on one character, other characters return to the last treat color they were using (with the mount being bugged when it was Teal).
Overall, it seems that you intend to make the different colors of the mount character-specific, which would be my preferred solution. So this should look like this:
- All characters should be able to properly mount the standard Teal Prismatic Snapdragon, whether they were ever using treats or what other characters did with their treats.
- Changing the color with treats should only flag the character who was using them and never affect the account / other characters.

Came here to report exactly the same behavior - mount’s usable in that I can hit ‘mount’ and the castbar appears; however, the action never actually completes and no mount appears. Can confirm the color was changed from teal > white on the original character who obtained the mount.

My mount is a blackish-gray color with slight purple tinting. It doesn’t ever change color. I have received three different meat colors and clicked them. The mount remains the blackish-gray color. The meat colors are now available from the vendor. When I buy the meat and then click on it my mount never changes color. When I try to “feed” the mount it disappears and there is a munching sound. When I re-summon my mount it is still black/gray as always.
What’s the name of the treats your vendor offers @Tanager? Blackish-grey sounds like it’s “Inky” and AFAIK no one had that on PTR or Retail, so no testing on this color change.

When you compare your unchangeable mount color with the pictures in the article, which one looks like yours? Because neither Teal, Crimson, nor Sandy is somewhere near “black-greyish with purple tint”.
That doesn’t sound like one of the color combinations for the Prismatic Snapdragon at all.
It actually sounds like the Deepcoral Snapdragon from Nazjatar.

Exactly, I was about to add a question if we are really talking about the no-armor/saddle “Prismatic Snapdragon” here.
When I am mounted on it, the saddle is purple. Does this mean that it isn’t even a prismatic snapdragon mount? That would explain why it doesn’t change color for sure. But why am I getting the meat colors and they are being added to the vendor if I don’t even have the mount?
Oh I see! I was on the Deepcoral Mount. But I also have the Prismatic Mount. I am able to change the colors of that mount. Yay! I’m so happy. I have no idea when or where I got the Deepcoral Mount. Is there a way to tell if I got that at the same time or had it all along because I’m pretty sure I never had it before.

This would have been during the latter part of Battle for Azeroth. If you played the Nazjatar dailies regularly (either faction), you would have eventually accumulated the renown needed to be awarded that mount.
I gained the Prismatic Dragon on one toon and then tried her on another toon and it came up with no issue, I gave her a teal treat on from the second toon and now it will act like it is being called up to mount but it will stall out on all active toons.
i was just about to some in and report this same thing and i couldnt figure out why none of my other characters could mount i just get the summon bar then nothing. This is after trying 5 of the different color variants that includes the teal.
