Buff Shadow Priest

the state of shadow priest is laughably pathetic. in every aspect imaginable. disc/holy dots tick harder and seemingly our only “strong” ability deals relatively mediocre damage (mind games, which any other classes non crit abilities regularly hit harder than) is a joke and again, the healing specs will hit harder with it. literally, not a single one of our class baseline abilities will hit harder than 8k, which is a strong auto attack for most melee classes.
we’re at a state in the video game where tank specs are more used than shadow priests in arena combat.
In the 15 years the spec has existed, it’s the worst it’s ever been. ever.

this is not a competitive spec anymore by any means.

spriest is some booty unless u play with an assas rogue, dh or bm hunter that can carry dps while u play support

Is it not a competitive spec.

Don’t mind me as I go watch Kawhi games…

It’s almost like if you play a spec that requires setup and coordination instead of PVE damage, and you play it like an affi lock, you’re going to lose.

Crazy.

seeing as it is and always has been a set up based spec, yeah i agree. however in an extremely unskilled meta where damage is E V E R Y T H I N G, those stuns and silences won’t do much. it’s solely based on if your team mate has enough damage to kill. a shell of its former self.
for med tier skilled players it’s probably a “fine” spec. however at the top .1%, .5%, or even top 10% of ladder theyre nowhere to be found

NGL, last night was the first night i’ve q’d arena this season since i finally got my 2pc on both my havoc dh and my spriest.

I plan on maining my spriest because I like it more, despite how ridiculously broken DH is right now.

That said, toggling from my spriest to my dh felt like night and day. It is absurdly easier to play a havoc dh than a spriest. This isn’t news, but the effort required in a shadow priest rotation to do very mediocre damage compared to the lack of effort required from a havoc dh to do massive damage is a bit skewed.

Shadow is stuck in 9.0 while everyone else is playing 9.2

Haven’t played in weeks.

This is why I stopped playing sp

This seems like a non sequitur in conversation with the idea that sp is a spec that is good for reasons other than damage

The effort it takes to succeed on it is much higher than other classes. It’s damage is out paced by almost every other spec, and it’s utility is very good but also much easier to get the same if not better utility from a mage while also being easier to use said utility.

Nothing about my post addressed the viability of spriests. I simply compared playing one to a havoc dh in terms of skill required for dps output.

Not to mention, the conversation you’re referencing is not necessarily the OP’s conversation (it was a single post), which is why I replied to the OP. I would disagree with the OP that spriest is not viable, though I would say it is viable in a much more niche way that is difficult in implementation and isn’t very popular among the LFG pugging scene.
