I dont think lock is in a sad state at all. Doesn’t need any buffs. Aff can do pretty insane dmg, Destro is decent as well. Demo is w/e now.
What does need to happen is nerfs to MM, probably WW though not sure how the crit nerf effects them yet, Frost/Fire Mage and Outlaw rogue a bit.
Yeah I love my lock but statistically even the best lock spec aff is a middle tier ranged spec on the ladder. Hard cast and one school of magic in the big 2026 LOL. Miles behind both frost and fire mage. Miles behind MM and BM Hunter. Demo and Destro you may as well not even waste your time unless you’re a glad level player.
The OP meta melee specs hard counter you in sub rogue, WW monk and Arms warrior. To win you need to severely outplay them. Ret is a bit easier but still not fun to play into. Good luck against DK’s too because you’ll need it.
The whole class needs a redesign for modern movement mechanics with all the gap closers, interrupts and worst of all stuns. They historically never win anything at AWC for a reason.

Demo has every dr in the game…. It’s pretty dang good.
You only have to go on murlok to see that’s not true. The top demo players in the world right now have an average shuffle rating of 1939. Which out every dps spec in the game is only in front of fury warrior, arcane mage and aug evoker. Destro isn’t much higher.
It’s not good. Let’s not make up things please. They also just lost a kick. Another pointless nerf after Blizzard had already nerfed demo and destro dmg multiple times while they leave other specs/classes alone.

I’m not going to waste breath explaining this to people who think warlock is in a good spot. Right now, across both NA and EU combined, warlock is the ONLY class(not spec) in the entire game without a single Gladiator.
I watched infernion in hardcast 4 chaos bolts back to back and a soulfire for the hunter to sit there completely fine not bothering to line one
God forbid chaos bolt does 99% of your hp not 100% oh lord blizzard we suffering
Destro is pathetic and caught a 3% nerf going in to this patch.
Dying to Destro currently is ratting yourself out as a terrible player.

I think keep demo where its at currently.
It does decent damage, a lot more then broken dps meters show.
Destro needs help though. Chaos bolt is just a way worse aimed shot atm
Demo losing kick is a huge nerf to it.
Demo nerfs have been significant in killing the spec off. Destro damage is still laughable and in the current meta is basically worthless. They absolutely obliterated blackened soul before season even launched. Shadowburn hits for like 40k… It’s literally an execute.

Yeah but if you play with a frost mage you can cross the streams while you beam together. Cosplaying Egon and Venkman is peak gameplay.
I’ve said this before, but it feels like the game is divided into classes with kill pressure and classes without atm.
There are dps classes like hunter, shaman, monk, rogue, feral, warrior, dev, and mage that all bring lethal damage and/or consistent reliable setup for it.
Then there are classes that don’t, like boomy, lock, sp, dk, ret.
Balance isn’t actually horribly far apart for damage specs IMO in that there are several at the top that can do well.
However, I do think a lot of specs on the bottom could see some buffs, and locks are included in that list.
I actually think affy is a lot stronger than people are recognizing just because it’s more easily shut down than it’s counterparts. Haunt+drain soul PUMPS every 15. Also no idea why drain soul is doing an exponential amount of damage more than shadow bolt. IG blizzard wanted affliction to cast even more?
Still think UA should not be shadow.
