Broken tuning prioritization by blizzard

Chill streak nerfed but let’s have boomkins and rets still able to burst 20k+ in 1 second. Let’s also have windwalkers provide insane pressure and constant high damage with execute and healing reduction and mobility like no other with off heals while I hit like a wet noodle outside my tiny Pillar of Frost window. I don’t understand the priority here? Yeah chill streak is strong but if you can’t trinket or break cc and isolate yourself 3 pixels to the right then you’re bad. It’s only a giant snowball flying on top of you - you can’t possibly miss it.

I get blizz is trying to buff our base damage in return for nerfed burst, but it doesn’t matter when our only acceptable damage is COMPLETELY reliant on Pillar of Frost. It’s 12 seconds and NEEDS to have a 15-20 sec duration. Our class is completely gutted compared to our other melee counterparts. If Avatar and Avenging Wrath is 20 seconds why can’t Pillar of Frost be 20 seconds as well? If Storm, Earth, and Fire is 15 seconds why can’t Pillar of Frost be atleast 15 seconds? When Invoke Xuen is DOUBLE the duration of Pillar Frost at 24 seconds??? One disarm from a warrior/monk and my burst window is effectively halved to 6 seconds, and there is no way to “un-disarm” myself. On top of that Disarm will always be up for my burst window with a 45 second cooldown so when I play monks and warriors my burst and kill potential is basically halved.

Death strike heals for 3-6k which requires half of my total rune power yet Word Of Glory can still easily heal to half or full health in one cast and is just as spammable. Oh mortal strike… What’s death strike do again? Also hit like a wet noodle?

The entire kit needs to be reworked. With Pillar of Frost as it is, our dps will never be more than “barely acceptable” when we aren’t using Pillar of Frost. A blanket increase to damage will not change anything but exploit more of the class’s weaknesses. This is outrageous.

They nerfed it because DK were complaining that all their damage comes from Chillstreak, they also buffed their other spells to help make their other spells feel better.

You’re saying this as if DK would suddenly be OP if they left chillstreak damage alone. It partially negated the 5% damage buff of a class that’s already struggling. Arms is already a much better spec than anything DK has and got 3% across the board without touching any of their talents.

Chillstreak is also a PvP only talent and has zero bearing on PvE balance. With all the OP classes in the game currently there’s zero reason for ANY nerfs to DK’s in PvP right now.

Hpal is stupid beyond belief right now. They’re the best at everything. I don’t understand how they haven’t made major changes to healers across the board. At least those MW’s can play WW which is doing great right now. Not ideal but at least they have one S tier spec.

Doesn’t justify blizzard completely ignoring Mistweavers and not changing a single thing regarding healers after AWC had only holy paladins and even 1 protection paladin.

Keep in mind chill streak bounces.
5% less damage per bounce is actually a significant nerf to the classes kill potential.

They will buff more until the damage is made up.

Never said that it did???

Lol right. When does DK get to do damage on the level of Fire/Balance/WW/Arms/Ret? This season’s been terrible for DK and we aren’t going to get buffed enough to be even in the average category. The gap between the top classes and bottom classes is massive. Getting a buff followed by a slight nerf isn’t going to close the gap.

Your point above is invalid because why in the world would blizzard focus on reducing Chill Streak’s damage because of “DK’s complaining that’s our biggest source of damage” when there are more heavy and supported outcries from Mistweavers and Paladins regarding PvP tuning? Hence, blizzard’s completely dysfunctional tuning priorities.

Pillar of Frost is a 1 minute CD with a 12 second duration, Avenging Wrath is a 2 min cd with a 25 second duration, Avatar is a 1.5 minute cd With a 20 second duration and is a talent. They arent at all the same cd length so why should they all have the same duration? With Avatar and PoF over the same 2 minute duration both have almost the same active uptime only being separated by 1 second.

The 5% was no for pvp even though it had an impact there. People have been clamoring for a long time now for Chill Streak to be nerfed so its not pvp’s only damage and for the base to be brought up. What people asked for happened and low and behold people are complaining yet again.

Not really terrible, you are amazing with warrior hpal comp.

We’re propped up by the other classes being overtuned. Hpal/Warr and Hpal/WW can be played with almost anything. We do have a couple niches that make the class playable at high MMR but overall it’s still lackluster relative to other classes.

It’s still a required talent for FDK and now it’s weaker than it was. If the changes made it possible to ignore chillstreak entirely then a lot of people would be happy. It wasn’t even close to what people were asking for.

Be real, here. People were clamoring that Chill Streak was their only viable source of “meta” damage. Even with optimal execution, no one player is going to lose more than 1/3 of their health from it in one 5-10 second volley. It wasn’t strong enough to justify a nerf. The spec. should be receiving buffs and only buffs until representation shifts.

Isn’t it strange to you that for Avatar which is 1.5 minute CD lasts 20 seconds, Avenging Wrath with a 2 minute CD lasting 25 seconds, but PoF with a 1 minute CD and lasting only 12 seconds? If the balancing was fair, PoF should have a 15 second duration respectively. Why is it fair that classes with longer duration buffs get more burst output and killing potential (ie Avatar/Avenging Wrath/Invoke Xuen). Don’t forget the massive amount of utility and self healing all these other classes have compared to DKs.

How many people have been clamoring for changes to Mistweaver? To reduce paladin’s insane healing? To bringing back dead specs? Those people easily outnumber the people whining about Chillstreak doing too much damage. There is absolutely no reason for blizzard to put those classes on the backburner just to “tune” Chillstreak.

DKs are over nerfed in general which is why I don’t play anymore. The last 3 expacs have kicked off with beta nerfs, beta prunes and just deliberate idiocy and laziness all over the place, it takes 4 expansions to get the talents looked at, why would I want to continue to support a game like that?

PoF, AR, and Avatar each have roughly a 20% uptime depending on fight length with Pillar being able to have equal or more uptime because it has a lower CD duration. Its a PvE balance thing, not a PvP balance thing. WoW is designed and balanced around PvE first and foremost.

And almost everything else is now stronger. So really there shouldnt have been much change in damage output. Everything getting stronger by 5%, and chillstreak being lowered by 10% while also being buffed by 5% (at least from the sound of it) should be a slight buff.

People wanted Chill Streak removed for the most part, or nerfed and not taking into account of PvE balance thinking their focus is the only thing that SHOULD be balanced. PvE and PvP arent that separated that you can do that. Frost is design right now is pretty set in stone. Dont hold out thinking things are going to be fixed for you getting your hopes up and then when it doesnt happen these outrage posts come out. I even predicted that with the 5% buff, people were still going to complain about something and look. Its one day into the buff and people are complaining. I highly doubt many people even played with these changes to make a definitive assessment, you know like people keep telling me that I must play 40 hours a week at the hardest difficulty to understand how KM procs work?

None of you are actually going to be happy unless you can 2 shot someone without PoF and without Chill Streak

Pof really only has a 10% uptime when you get Disarmed. 12 seconds turns into 6 seconds. It’s okay for Warriors and Paladins though because Disarm still gives Avatar 14 seconds of use and Avenging Wrath 19 seconds of use which is 15-16% uptime still.

Understand that PoF will never have “more uptime” because PoF is a 1 minute cool down and Disarm is a 45 second cool down. Therefore PoF uptime will always be <10% against Warriors, Monks, and Boomies. And that’s only 1 CC. Doesn’t matter because Warriors can still throw up D Stance, Monks can hit you with ToK, and Boomies will just Barkskin on top of that. Pathetic excuse of “increasing uptime”.

Again, if the tuning devs are catering to PvE content, tell me why Mistweaver is nearly unplayed in Castle Nathria logs. That’s what blizzard should be focusing on if they were truly trying to balance PvE. This is a PvP oriented post. If you don’t have anything positive to add to the PvP aspect of Death Knights please don’t comment any further.
