The wolf whistle emote was removed because it objectified women, yet next patch we can have nude women running around…how does that make any sense?
Not sure how they would be ‘Nude’, unless you happen to be from the 50’s thinking. You still have pants and undergarments.
Ahhhh ok so just wearing a thong isn’t considered nude? Fair enough, toons will be almost naked.
Smh like you haven’t seen slutmogs, now imagine those with even less
What the heck are you talking about?
What whistle, and how do you know that was the reason?
There’s a major difference between a whistle, an act one does to another person, and having a nude mog, an experience one chooses for themself. The fact that you have trouble seeing that is troubling.
This is kinda like how people think a bikini is just a bathing suit but underwear is “sexual”…even though they cover the same amount of skin.
Hoomans are weird.
I wonder what they will think when they see all the metal bikinis. Faux virtue signaling irritates me. I miss that whistle.
Whistle /= transmog
The fact that uou don’t see the difference between these two is sad.
OK, in all honesty I had to look this up. Apparently at some point in the past (Dec. 2018?) They changed the sound of the /whistle emote. I didn’t notice, cause I don’t really use it.
Other people noticed it, and there are forum posts from that time-frame talking about it. So, let’s put the stick down, dat horse be dead.
I’m on your side. Removing the whistle was the path of least resistance for the game against the “Rage” of offended persons.
Yes bikinis are sexual no matter what anyone else here pretends but so is arguable the “barbarian” aesthetic that allowing hiding the chest-piece means. It’s a kind of orientalized fetishization that’s just part of the fantasy.
Let’s not get to uppity about it.
Did they give a reason for changing it, or is the OPs reasoning completely made up from his own theories?
The latter, of course.
I never said they were the same, One change was to prevent unwanted attention, the next change invites unwanted attention.
its sad you cant see that
My understanding of the current political climate is that it’s only “objectification” if it’s a man doing it to a woman.
I am going to go into a little more detail in that. People cannot control if they are /whistle at but they control what transmog their characters wear. If someone want to dress their character in skimpy gear they are okay with that choice but they may not be okay with /whistle being used at them. I say this as a person that loves the old /whistle.
Oh no… you gone and done it now.
Apparently, they will still be wearing pants. Plus you can’t get rid of the underwear without banned modifications.
That is a very flawed argument and very scary to think you actually use that in your real life.
its my own theory since the reason was never disclosed…
If the goal is to “de-objectify” female collections of pixels a suit of armor that goes from full coverage on a male to a metal string bikini on a female doesn’t fit the optics they are attempting to project.
