As someone who got the old gear… no. You should have been playing back then. So tried of these FOMO posts. There are things I didn’t get and that’s perfectly fine. Time moves on and so should you.
Yeah but Blizzard doesn’t care and does it anyways. Because they’re Blizzard, lol. Every time people keep saying ‘x’ has never come back, and then ‘x’ does - they move onto ‘y’ will never come back… Then ‘y’ does.
It’s a never winning battle for people who honestly think Blizzard won’t bring things back.
Actually it did scale. Which resulted in the healing challenge being more difficult the better you were geared.
the mage tower did not scale at all. the more gear u had, the easier it became
I mean, they know really. It’s not actually about preseving the challenge, just making sure people can’t get it later on, even if it’s harder.
You can’t run the 1997 men’s triathlon qualifier in 2024.
Sigh… all the SL and later MT posts drown out the original ones.
Still. It did scale, yeah some did get it easier but others like the healer ones had it worse.
Well, yeah. Neither of those were digital.
You can however still read news articles from 1997.
the original mage tower did not scale… not even the healer challenge, i did that one on three healers.
Found one!

ok so the healer mage tower did scale the HP of your NPCs… but that made it easier - they had more hp and could take more dmg before dying.
and honestly, the scaling must have not been that much because i didnt notice it at all.
that article only mentions that HP of your friendly NPCS increasing - the dmg of the hostile mobs did not increase… so yes, the healer mage tower did scale but it scale in a beneficial way for you.
your npcs could now take more hits before dying, giving you more room to mess up before failing.
If i recall, everything did scale including enemy damage, i’e the numbers were somewhat normalized.
Still it made a situation for some where they ended up having to heal more than intended due to being better geared.
the article doesn’t mention enemy scaling at all… this is what it says:
the NPCs scale with your health, so the more gear you get, the beefier your NPCs are. Not only will you heal for more, your NPCs can take a hit without falling over. I did 93 attempts at 892, burned myself out, came back and got it within 12 attempts at 920.
basically, this person says your NPCs have more hp, mentions nothing of enemy scaling and also says that they burned out on attempts with the healer mage tower, got higher ilvl, came back and beat it in 12 attempts.
so this scaling that you are talking about in the healer mage tower, made it easier - not harder.
im gonna be completely honest right now:
I did not even play a healer spec in legion - i just used my dps gear from some of my toons and went in and one shot the healer mage tower being like 970 ilvl on them.
I never batted an eye at the healer mage tower, never looked up a guide how to heal on these specs, I never watched a guide on the mage tower, i just switched spec to healer, put my healer artifact on, and cast some healing spells.
i may have wiped one or twice not knowing what to do with the eyes but there was no struggle.
You’re wild, the mage, warlock, warrior, paladin, priest I mean I can go on all the sets are 10/10 top tier.
No, Adaia is correct. M+ is leagues more challenging than CM Gold ever was. It’s not even a comparison. MAYBE Stormstout Brewery, but even then, that was mostly just due to a tight timer, one that you could easily meet by just swapping your healer to a DPS spec during the boss spawn.
Yeah, I feel similarly about this. I’ve some friends who play this game namely for transmog who come up with some wicked sets. Without the ability to customize gear through systems like armor dyes, it can suck trying to lean into a theme and find the perfect piece, only to realize that you won’t be able to obtain it.
Personally, I’m fine with people having the armor sets like I do. They’re good sets, and I wish I saw people using them more often. I’d love for things like the CMs to make a comeback, retooled as M+ (frankly, I’m a little surprised S4 didn’t include at least something like this). I want to try my hand at them again, especially SSB.
I really don’t get the obsession with making unobtainable items obtainable again. They’ve been giving away quite a few rare items the past months (Fel Drake, Tabard of Frost etc.) and I’ve yet to see someone actively using them once the novelty has worn off.
I assume your child is old enough so you can camp wow US and EU forums 24/7?
You’ll have your chance at CM once MoP is classic.
I could say about the others that want those fomo rewards.
Another 100% disingenuous argument.
How is that disingenuous?
Mop challenge modes will return with mop classic and you can get all the sets you want in classic.
“Wait and do something in a completely different game and get the rewards that you can’t use on the character(s) you’ve had for years.”
Disingenuous to the core.
