It was cool when Blizzard gave us a replacement on our alts at the time for WW, but times have changed. For any new character you make, you have to get the mount equipment, and it can add up (gold wise).
I wish they never took away the Water Strider effect or any other mount that allowed you to do so. Took a long time to farm that pagle rep, =(
Um you have water walking, as you are a shaman.
There is a BoA water walking equipment thing from the Anglers in MoP, right? I have one. I think thats where I got it. https://www.wowhead.com/item=168416/anglers-water-striders It was from the Garrison.
This is true, but I also mean on my other toons that aren’t fortunate to have that ability.
Touche though.
The shaman class is the superior class, all others should submit to us.
I still think it’s dumb they took away the natural water walking of the Water Striders from Pandaria. “bUt iT wOuLd bE Op tO hAvE wAtEr wAlKiNg aNd mOunT eQuipmeNt!” Yeah? So disable the ability to benefit from mount equipment like they did to the Sky Golem. They clearly have the capability to do it.
If you had water walking mount before the change, all characters you had should have gotten a free WW equipment for your mount.
This was the way to go, but blizzard and foresight don’t go hand-in-hand
and I did it on multiple accounts…all time wasted lol
At least dragonriding seems to be the idea for the ongoing expansions. 
They did do that, but it was only for your current characters. Any new characters created after they did that, didn’t have the Angler’s buff. You had to buy the mount equipment per toon (created)
Somebody apparently had it in for Water Striders for some reason. I believe every expansion after MoP they tried to sneak in some way to get rid of Water Strider water walking until they finally came up with the Mount Equipment system, which I believe to this day to exist for the sole purpose of removing water walking from Water Strider mounts.
If you don’t mind farming out the item, there’s an artifact fishing pole from legion called the Underlight angler. If you get enough artifact exp, you can walk on water, swim fast underwater, and breath underwater. Very useful.
I know it’s not the same, but at least the ottuk mounts aren’t too hard to get with Iskaara rep, and they have movement speed for land and water (and if you have the Wondrous Wavewhisker Fish you also get static flying).
I just use the inflatable mount shoes for water walking.
And a great fishing pole!

Can’t you just acquire a new piece of mount equipment to give all of your mounts water-walking?
I just use the anti-daze one because running through mobs on a mount is far more common than having to run over deep water.
The Inflatable Mount Shoe. Its a Blacksmith crafted item, but its likely to cost more than the game item. Sometimes you see it going for hundreds of gold on the AH, whereas the game item costs 50g.
This. Whenever I have a new toon, I send another with max anglers rep to Krasarang, buy the water striders, then mail it to the new toon. Simple. And it really doesn’t cost that much.
