Bring back vendors; Scrap conquest cap

Hey this system actually sucks going on a new character and going through a trillion conquest getting boony gear and then getting 430 gear that still isn’t even good. Besides conquest being unacceptably slow to obtain for alts who get stomped once you get to the hard stuck 1800 440 gear bracket, the idea that the game knows what order we should gear is insulting and ignores the random nature of acquiring gear outside of PvP to begin with.

Please just add the system back that worked. Keeping an artificial barrier to entry is not wise and has really made the PvP scene absurdly more difficult to get into

Alts that just hit max level are undergeared? Crazy…

Alts playing for several weeks still being undergeared is the problem. Back in my day, we could get a full honor set in a day and get the catch up conquest gear much faster than what we have now. It’s artificially slow and random in nature. It’s infinitely worse

the old system w/ pvp vendor was definitely better, but pvp and class balance was different. the vast majority of arena-only players would gladly reroll to a viable (overpowered) class and spec if it meant easier and less skill-relevant wins (in the current meta). having an affinity for your class and spec is a meaningless endeavor now. i’m not suggesting people shouldn’t play alts, but I do think that even more rogue mage and fire destro certainly isn’t the answer, and that’s what you’ll get if you provide an easier avenue for gearing in pvp. the opposite may also happen, and you may see more variance in team class compositions, but i doubt it.

Back in my day you didn’t get any pvp gear until you were rank 7.

You can go play that version of the game, I want to play mine that was better

That is your opinion. I disagree with vanilla’s systems as well. But a lot of people like it for reasons I don’t agree with.

Either way, MoP/ WoD were not the pinnacle of anything including gearing.

What did you not like about the system that literally worked for years and let you compete in a ranked environment on equal level? It’s been the best system we’ve had in WoW which means it is factually the pinnacle of gearing for arena play.

Explain yourself

This is an MMO. Gear and character progression matter. If you actually believe that honor buddy/ afk bgs should lead to bis pvp gear then that is your opinion. But you do not have my support.

This is an MMO is not an argument. This is supposed to be a competitive environment and the game is supposed to be fun. None of these systems promote either of those factors and like I said, if you want to win because of gear classic is waiting for you.

Also saying AFKing BG’s got your bis is completely disingenuous and I’m positive you simply didn’t play MoP or WoD PvP if your opinion is this bad and you believe that

WoD’s arena gearing system was amazing wym? It was second to only WoTLK’s.

Yah but what if you accidentally buy a ring instead of a weapon? Uh? UH???

It is a competitive argument. And this is a game. But whether or not a vanilla, wrath, mop, or bfa gear system is fun is your opinion.

Whatever argument you make, the game was vastly more popular in vanilla> wrath than mop> wod.

I played wod. It wasn’t all bad. But yes, afking in a raid group in ashran did allow you to loot bis pvp gear.

I find it odd that you would point out that its supposed to be a competitive environment but then also argue for welfare gearing.

If you argued wrath’s system of promoting certain gear slots for rating, I might be on board with that. But wrath also had a pve gear component that I don’t believe should be removed.

It does not make sense that a mythic raider zones into wsg and gets smashed by a yolo bg hero that honor buddies. It also doesn’t make sense that a gladiator goes into the open world and struggles to kill anything because his gear is suddenly quest greens.

I prefer it when gear is just gear. Not 10 individual sandboxes that reward players for skipping 90% of the game.

Pvp gearing was the best in these times. There was zero time better.

Wod was better than wotlk in terms of gear

Sub numbers have nothing to do with what is or what is not a good system and you have no argument. Gear disparity and excessive catch up is killing the arena scene. This isn’t an opinion, it’s a literal fact.

Depends on the audience.

BC and wrath had way more arena participation. With no catch-up. And huge disparity.

It depends on what audience you want to capture.
