Let me break it down:
Better chance to get the ilvl with just one layer of RNG (does it drop for me or not)
If systems like ML are brought back for guild groups, better chance to get it
Can set your own group up to improve chances of getting it traded to you if someone else has it drop
Yes, the lower difficulty CAN drop it, that does not mean it WILL drop it, I hate relying on luck to get the best gear I can so I am more than happy to push the higher difficulties to either remove layers of RNG or get the base form of my BIS.
This is from one who has more or less capped out on ilvl from the raid difficulty I do (heroic) as only boss left for me to kill there is Sylv so I might have side grades from Heroic but actual upgrades are likely Mythic (need 19 others to do) or M+14/15 vault. Even just your 5 ilvl cap would benefit me as at least minor pure upgrades. Even with my caps (heroic base for normal) I’d still only get side grades at best.
If I wanted to be challenged in that way I’d go play a different game.
To you maybe. I like having the gear I worked for mean something rather than just throwing it all away after every tier.
Yeah. It does. Because I see it and then question why I even bother anymore. I could just run lfr for gear since it can drop the same as higher difficulties. While we’re at it why not just make mythic raid gear drop from world quests, or better yet from your mission table?
Gear is not the reason why 99% of players who don’t try harder content don’t try harder content. No group/friends, not good enough, no time, no desire, etc.
Yes, the ones wanting the same reward from doing faceroll afk content as the guy who wipes to a mythic boss for hours and hours are totally not the “selfish” ones.
People who are talking about master looter return, do you not remember the disaster groups in WoD where basically everything was on reserve, but people were desperate to get achievements, so they’d join these groups just for “experience” and get nothing for their time?
People join a group where everything is reserved and then are mad that the loot is reserved? They deserve to have sense paddled into them
If its so easy to make a group that you can fill it even with all loot reserved, the simple solution is obvious.
I agree, absolutely with this. But they never work our systems around longevity. It is always this crazy burn for gear then slash it every half patch.
Tokens from bosses to turn in for loot would be great, much like our current valor system (that should not be capped in the beginning, either).
But titanforging is supposed to be relatively rare. Yeah, it happens, but it won’t always happen, and there’s no reason to spend 16 hours running the same thing at a low difficulty, as opposed to 2 doing something a little harder (but more doable for a more experienced person).
Yes but at some point because it CAN happen it WILL happen. I don’t think it SHOULD or that it NEEDS to. Just let loot be loot. No socket proc. No tertiary proc. No ilvl proc. Just the item at its current difficulty and nothing else.
Personally I think there are far too many raid difficulties in this game and that it needs to be lowered down to 2 from 4. 2 versions of every item in the game is more than enough imo. Just another reason why I think WotLK was the best expansion Blizzard ever released (before they started going crazy in TotC/TotGC with 4 difficulties).
Pretty much this, their so focused on time played right now that their losing a lot of the quality they were known for in years past. It’s just one of those things at this point that the player base has called for numerous times and they just don’t do it.
I personally do not play an alt due to the gearing challenge I would face to even get it raid ready this tier, I would only get into playing it next tier when we get rid of sockets. That’s a big reason why people don’t play alt’s right now, is the gearing demand is just awful and not fun to play with. I’m working on leveling up a disc priest, but I’m not sure if I’ll even get into it when 9.2 comes out.
And I think thats the problem that should be addressed, not wf/tf. Gear should matter for longer. I’d love to see a removal of 1 or 2 raid difficulties, and less player power gain between tiers.
The problem comes from when you see it happen. Call it jealousy if you want, but when I could watch someone run lfr and get the same item I have from a higher difficulty, but theirs titanforged higher, it just made me mad. What did that person do to deserve that item?
Side note: It does not help that most of the time I experienced this the person who got lucky was probably the most undeserving person to get lucky. The guy who is afk when the boss is pulled and somehow gets loot anyway after contributing nothing. The dps who runs around triggering all the bad things so he can die and go afk and have an excuse for doing no damage/healing. The guy who taunts the boss as a non tank “by accident” so he can just not do the boss when he dies. The people who do the boss wrong on purpose in an attempt to troll the raid and waste peoples time. I’ve seen all of these types of players get titanforges, and each time it just made me hate the system more and more. When Blizzard announced its removal I was really excited for a few seconds, then they talked about corruptions and I remembered it was Blizzard that was talking.
Titanforging is a lottery system and you should be happy that someone got a titanforged loot piece not angry or jealous or vengeful or spiteful lmao.
L O T T E R Y games are fun bring back titanforging
Even during that time, there were only 3 versions of gear, as 10-man heroic was the same as 25 normal. Cata kept the 10 man normal/heroic and 25 man normal/heroic but the only difference between the numbers was the amount of loot that dropped, it was the same ilvl throughout. We did not even have the 3rd version of the gear till DS which brought LFR.
I think they overdid it with the addition of Mythic, we need to go back to at least 3 version of the raid/iteration of the gear. LFR (queued, easiest of them all). Normal (premade, AOTC, etc) and mythic (hardest, for the cream of the crop).
I have 0 desire to play alts anymore. I usually level them to max once a decent levelling thing comes out for the expac (legion invasions/bfa faction assaults/etc). Still waiting on a Shadowlands version of the invasions/assaults so I can level alts but not holding my breath.
What do I have to look forward to on an alt in SLs? Gotta run Torghast for legendary upgrade ash. Gotta spends thousands of gold on the base legendary item (multiple times of this if I wanna play more than 1 spec). Do Maw/Korthia stuff because heaven forbid those reps and unlocks are account wide, pray for dom socket gear/dom shards in SoD. Grind embers to upgrade shards (these are useless come 9.2 anyway lol).
Yeah I’d just rather go play another game than play an alt. The more Blizzard puts into the game to keep me playing the less I want to play. Ironic.
I actually sort of liked Titanforging. While I understood why others didnt and appreciated their opinions I had to admit that when you had something drop and it went ‘ZING’ and TF’d it felt like a little lotto win.
It felt very nice to get a piece of loot. And I would like to ask, did anyone who disliked TFing and had a piece upgrade instantly disenchant it as a point of honour? OOOOHHH no, they kept it and put it on.
Life is like a box of…gear…ya never know what ya gonna get… (to paraphrase).
it made all the content required. no. do not add TF back, but instead, have all gear able to be upgraded to max ilvl. that would be far better then trying to get 3 or so layers of rng to proc.
