no one cares buddy u can stick to ur snooze fest vanilla servers where there are huge problems. its the worst version by far… u comment the same 3 things everyday and no one gives u any attention. can u just go somewhere? shoo shoo
I want to say I thought so at the time as well as I was resistant (vocally, on the forums) to a lot of the changes and updates but it was more of a subconscious thing, a feeling. I can’t recall ever saying “this totally sucks” during its original run.
I didnt put 2+2 together at the time, I just assumed time passes and people change as the 20+ person core group I had run with since Day 1 vanilla began to really change come mid Wrath. If they weren’t outright quitting they had drastically altered their play time, play style or both. Im talking about people who were way more into the game than I was.
I made some swift and permanent alterations to how I normally played. Basically went from organized pve meter humper to carefree pvp random bg hero by the end of the expansion although I was pugging ICC 10 with randos and still doing things like heroics. I ended up quitting the game 10 min after patch 4.0 dropped - I got super salty about the 3rd weapon slot and talent trees. Garbage changes for a garbage crowd.
Wrath isn’t total and complete bunk it just looks like it when you compare it to the other two versions. Huge moves towards accessibility that killed the very thing the game had going for it and made it hugely successful - the grind. A more casual grind but a grind nonetheless.
Yup and if you want to venture into the realm of class design… Giving everyone a tool for every situation, and far too much access to those kinds of abilities also somewhat killed the game play a bit… Also worse, they put a ton of dumb things in like +damage modifers to abilities, in your case (rogue) bonus damage on backstab or reduced energy cost talents… This kind of crap forces a player way down into a talent tree instead of building a character as they see fit.
The only place where +damage kinds of talents ought to exist are deep down in a hybrid class talent tree to keep them balanced since blizzard and the players WRONGLY consider them 3 classes instead of 1 each.
Further, I think it was a mistake to go so far up the ladder of gear, the game really does not respond well to high item levels… There are other ways to handle the gear progression problems in games like this, and LOLMOREITEMLEVEL was not the right answer.
Worse, blizzard added some questionable stats like resilience that in a low key way over buff healers while nerfing DPS way too much in certain situations.
Also mistakes were made regarding tank design, no tank ever nor should DPS specs / tanks specs be balanced around self healing… Passive self healing is also just a vile concept. So much wrong with some of the abilities added over time, and blizzard refused to dump the trash and instead in Cata / WoD pruned the hell out of legacy abilities like a bunch of idiots. The everyone has self healing craze was an answer to a problem created by Resilience in PVP and healers / tanks being a bit too tanky… Because yeah, we need more mindless crap…
Another fools design was all the stupid setup required to do damage, It made sense for mages to do this with shatter, but freaking hell man, now every class has mage shatter required setup… Be that in form of Sanguinary veins (cata crap) or some sort of LOLGOTTAUSEALLMYCOOLDOWNSTODOANYDAMAGE. Just kidding everyone has shield wall now too LOL.
So much trash design post Vanilla, some was good, dont get me wrong, but most was just LOLMOREISBETTERAMIRIGHT?
And this is why even though Vanilla has a lot of problems with its classes and designs, its just more fun because each class depends on the others around them to do their job. I know PVE and PVP in vanilla are kinda a mess, but they have more potential for greatness than any other version.
Closing BC servers was a mistake imo. It woulda been hella dead but at least it’d be a future option for players.
i’ve started WoW in TBC, i love outland in the same magnitude i dislike northrend map. Outland has probably the most beautiful heavens in wow.
we got HC server, you should never be against the desire of the people who likes other things, TBC is great for most of us, and for me specially because the world remember me the WC 3 lore with magtheridon, kael, lady vash, illidan, archimonde, kil jaeden and many others, Lore was really great.
there are bad things in tbc of course but happens in every xpac, hopefully they introduce tbc raids in classic + some day.
There should have been a TBC Classic Era. Deleting it from being played was a mistake.
At least World PvP existed to a greater extent in TBC than it did in Wrath.
Giving alts flying mounts is the worst decision ever made.
I’d say there is a decent amount of people that would play on a TBC server. So how do we convince Blizzard to open their eyes, so we can open our wallets?
Btw this guy Eyr is the same person as Aurumai, the infamous forum troll on the classic wotlk forums. Seems hes moved onto Era and is spreading his toxicity and bullying here now.
TBC, at least at launch, was very heavily grindy. Do people even remember what was required for Karazhan? You needed to get a key which required doing heroics which often required doing regular (because you needed rep for the heroics) and then if you wanted to go into the raid after that you needed to do another quest in Karazhan…
Don’t get me wrong, Karazhan 10/10 raid. Just want to give people an idea what they would be up against.
WOTLK was, by large a success because once you reached max level if you had a guild you could just… go into naxx. No attunements really required. The dungeons in general were also easier to get into.
Attunements for TBC were removed, but this was much later in the expansions cycle.
You didnt mention the super class inbalances of vanilla which got fixed in tbc and wrath. If they did a som2 on vanilla they should balance the classes that are considered meme classes/specs
Hunter pallies boomkins
If they give an era realm, I could care less how grindy it is. It’d play similar to Vanilla right now. People taking their time, enjoying the game, and not being the un-fun min/max rush to end game content and then complain that there is nothing to do.
What sucks the most is that if they ever do reopen them, we basically lost our characters there. I would have loved to continue to gear my warlock and paladin at some later date.
that’s not true
i hate wrath and would never post on the wrath forum
if you think hunters are a “meme class” in vanilla, that’s a you problem
I think that having a ready-made game at hand, it would be idiotic not to increase the repertoire of services for this game. A TBC Era would attract even more players (who currently don’t play WoW), old nostalgic, TBC players from private servers; it would be enough to create two servers, one PvP and the other PvE.
I personally would like another chance to explore the TBC expansion more in depth.
well you certainly aren’t getting TBC era until wrath classic is done and buried. so you can get comfy waiting for that
I would love a version of TBC without flying mounts, maybe faster mounts, by land
Maybe we need some brave soul that is attending Blizz Con to hold up a “TBC SERVER!” sign?
Agreed. I found the leveling and exploring experience the best part of my personal experience when playing WoW. Different players will have different viewpoints, but I am sure there are enough players like us around to populate a TBC server, grindy or not.
same, i caught it at the very beginning for like a month then was there for the last 2 months never really fully played it. would like to go more in depth with it as a whole.
