I came back to this game earlier this year. And I knew something was wrong. I couldn’t remember it. I thought they re did the map on deepwind gorge or battle for gilneas. But no, what was wrong was there was no more Strand of the ancients. I loved this bg! I didnt get to enjoy it enough. And it gave more diversity to the set of bgs we have. Bring Strand of the ancients back.

Just one of a few bad changes. No one likes the new Deepwind Gorge, while most people really liked the old version. They also removed blacklisting, which no one likes.

I had no idea this bg was missing for a year. I just kept being: “I know somethings wrong…”
Can’t believe they outright removed a bg. And no one is talking about it.

As much proof as the statement two posts up saying:
“No one likes the new Deepwind Gorge, while most people really liked the old version. They also removed blacklisting, which no one likes.”
If more people liked it, it wouldn’t have been blacklisted by almost everyone and end up on the chopping block.

I honestly don’t know what you’re on about. Horde blacklisted AV/IoC in droves because those were the two that we were least likely to win. Alliance black listed strand for the same reason. If it were just a bad BG, horde would have blacked it too.
Once again, people in this thread and others flat out saying that they liked strand… is proof that people liked strand. Posts asking for blacklist to be brought back don’t undo that.

Probably for the best that you withdrew that post. Saying that the folks in this thread don’t represent the majority while simultaneously implying that you do doesn’t really work.
That link isn’t actually a blue post. The response to it that simply clarified that SOTA was being removed was the blue post.

Sure, great point. I suppose then that the blacklisting feature was removed too because no one liked it or used it. I suppose ability pruning occurred only to be brought back later due to initial player demand.
They removed a BG that had skewed winrates between the attacking and defending teams… only to later add WG, which is much more skewed and lasts twice as long. When do you suppose they’ll scrap that one?
During yesterday’s Battle for Azeroth Q&A, World of Warcraft Game Director Ion Hazzikostas mentioned that battlegrounds would now be split into two separate queuing categories. One category will be for the 40-person battlegrounds, while the other will be for, well, all the others. However, because of this separation, we’ll be losing the ability to blacklist battlegrounds.

I’m not sure how you derived that from that quote. Once more, the majority of players simply blacklisted whichever two BGs their faction lost most often. Bully for you that you blacked SOTA as horde, the rest of us took out AV/IOC.
I’m similarly unsure why you think that every removal or addition they make is a direct result of player feedback when so many people are asking for blacklist back.
In any event, in my opinion, SOTA was a blast and I miss it a lot. I wish they had expended the necessary effort to iterate on it instead of removing it but what can you do? The epic BGs have been completely unbalanced for a long time now too. They just don’t give the attention to BGs that they used to.

That’s not true at all. I blacklisted the battlegrounds I didn’t like, so. Nobody said every removal is a direct result of player feedback. But this one clearly was. Once more, we’re going off assumptions since nobody has official numbers on what the ‘majority’ do or don’t do.
The up to 10 people that will post in this thread stating they enjoyed a horrible BG is hardly a large enough sample size to undo what Blizz correctly did a while ago by removing the BG.

Was PvP power/resilience removed because everyone hated it? Vendors?
You hated it and that’s fine. To suggest that majority of players did too and the proof is in the fact that it was removed alone is asinine.
They removed strand but we have
Wintersgrasp, which is kinda the same thing in a way. I liked strand better though.
Who loves getting Ashran bg as Alliance? lol
