Bring back post burying

Post burying was so good. If someone posted something so stupid or trolling, it empowered the community to take matters into their own hands. If someone’s idea is so bad that it gets buried, chances are it probably deserved to do so.

Dislikes need to be added too.

That’s the reddit mentality, but it didn’t stop certain subreddits from festering in filth.

The problem is that the WoW forums proved themselves unable to use downvote-to-bury responsibly. Things like guilds running through and burying anything that didn’t go along with what they wanted was rampant. So many times I saw totally innocuous and even well thought out posts buried because someone with a posse didn’t like it.

Only if you can find a way to remove that huge negative side to the feature I’d support bringing it back.

Naw, just a tyranny of the minority.

Just need to get rid of alt bumping and then don’t engage it if you want it to die.

If other people keep engaging it then does it really need to be buried or do you just personally want to silence it for wrong think.

Don’t forget actually banning people who abuse the flagging system to silence people they disagree with.

Buried posts could get unburried if they got hit by a mass dislike from a guild or whatever. This garbage just puts people’s forum accounts in jeopardy.

this.

they need to prevent people from liking/reporting/disliking a post more than once, account wide, and give us back a dislike button.

then if something gets buried, maybe it really is a bad/dumb/troll idea.

Problem is that requires the moderators to do their job, which doesn’t seem to be a thing ever since we got the new forum.

Post burying is self policing. If your post was so wrong that you got about 100 dislikes, maybe you deserved to be buried?

Wait, I thought we all just reported the posts we disagreed with to bury them?

It’s funny because their total inaction with policing that has only made the problem worse.

The dislike button was removed because it was functioning exactly as it should have been.

But liking a post for whatever reason is a-ok.

Getting your post buried because someones disagrees with it is better than being false flagged. The false flagging just makes it hard to identifty actual posts that should be flagged.

Exactly this.

I totally agree that it’s self policing, we should have a dislike button, and posts with a large number of dislikes should be buried.

but that only works in an environment where people can’t simply hop from alt to alt to dislike the same post.

Burying posts were never lost. You just need a lot of dislikes or in this case flags

My complaint is that they removed the dislike, but kept the heart. If you feel driven to remove one, remove both.

But muh POSITIVITEEEEEEH.
