I agree with the recolors, but I also see where Kennie is coming from with all sets.
The question is where does this fit in to the rating structure? Most people who PVP don’t even get 1800 in any given season, so I doubt placing new elite sets over 1800 would breathe new air into the ladders.
So devalue the old elites to make the new elites more worth? That makes… no sense lol.
Next you’ll say add a token for old gladiator mounts at 2400 then current gladiator mount at 2700.
People would literally just wait till next season to get last season’s elites at 400 rating under.
That logic is flawed.
1800 for current elite
2000 for recolored elite
2100 for illusion
2400 for tabard
2400 + 50 wins for gladiator
2400 + 100 wins for legend
.1% of ladder for rank 1 rss and 3s.
So nope, every other sets have come back in one way or another. Limited time set doesn’t mean it can’t come back, it means there’s limited times to earn it.
Honestly, I’m not even sure it devalues the set. Every so often when I see an old Cata arena video of someone playing in the 2700s, I often see mistakes that people don’t even make at the 1800s anymore.
The point is to make the set more prestigious during the season its in. Maybe don’t add old elite sets for purchase until the next expac or the one after that, give it some time to really sink in for people.
But the purpose of making the elite set token 1800 would be so there’s a more versatile reward at a lower rating. Almost everyone who plays this game has some sort of old set they want to get whereas not everyone is ever pleased with the current season’s set. When someone feels that way and they know they won’t get 2100 for the enchant, they just decide not to even bother. The bottom end of the PVP ladder isn’t dependant on the top of the ladder being healthy with action. The top end of the PVP ladder is dependant on the bottom end being healthy with action.
How about this. A different idea. Make tokens (redeemable for 1 piece of gear, not the whole set) just have a chance to be a random reward from winning an arena match above 1800 and the drop rate gets higher as you go up in rating.
This way people will actually keep playing instead of just hitting a number and being done.
That doesn’t mean Blizzard can’t change their minds later but, it means exactly what it means. Blizzard’s current intent is for the sets to only be earnable in the season in question.
Making a claim that stuff that was only earnable at one point in time shouldn’t come back except for the fact that Naxx and many other pets that you couldn’t get anymore came back.
If I recall correctly, they did make a post before BC (?) launched originally that if anyone wanted Naxx gear, they should get it soon because the portals to naxxramas were closing permanently.
But as I said, Blizzard initially has clear intents and they can change their mind on that.
