Well, it wouldn’t be sudden. It will give them another reason to keep improving. But yeah the idea is that these are perpetual rewards, kind of like the Vicious saddles.
My first 2k was wrath and if it wasn’t for the S8 warlock “elite” shoulders I would not have scrambled so hard to improve and get them. And going off of that, now anyone can get those items. And honestly? I really don’t mind.
And that brings us back to the whole CR system debacle. Rating is so arbitrary. 1800 is achievable one season and then unreachable another season, depending on the point in the season.
In terms of rewards, im not really sure what else you can give newer players. The 1800 milestone is already piece mealed.
Riot does something really well though, where most rewards are achievable soley based on the amount of games played. And the higher rated you are, the less games are needed. Everyone eventually gets the cosmetic. I wouldn’t mind that for WoW, but I know a lot of more experienced players here wouldn’t like that.
Carries will always happen. There is really no other way to mitigate this type of social misconduct other than: 1.) Making rated PvP fun and sufferable, 2.) Implementing technical controls/systems to outright prevent the activity. It’s just one of those unfortunate cases of human nature.
We shouldn’t let the risk of an uptick in RMT prevent the organic engagement this could inject into the ladders. And if the concern is the devaluation of the vintage elite sets, to be fair, who’s to say someone didn’t use a gold carry to obtain them in the past? That kind of taint already exists.
Love,
Someone who is salty he can’t mog the Legion elite sets because he didn’t play back then, and probably could have clinched the CR cutoff because Demo and Affy were insanely busted back then too
Then School got busy and I couldn’t maintain much content at all so I never got any others that entire expansion… I would love a chance to try and earn them again. Frankly I don’t care if other DKs get to wear my big Red Lich King set, though I would like some kind of tag like “replica” to be attached to such things.
That way people can have sets that usually have color patterns you can’t find casually or via PVE but it doesn’t completely tarnish the Achievements (literal achievements in the log, and achievements on a personal level at the time.) people earned to accquire the original sets.
So I’m all for this idea of it being a hard earned thing, with the limitations of “One per class per season” and The set you get being a “replica” set with the name changed to say so similar to the General/High Warlord sets of vanilla.
I don’t think Blizzard actually looks at these forum post, maybe if a community council posted it or twit- I mean “X” and tsgging a dev would be better.
If there’s one takeaway from this whole thread its that everyone cares alot about cool sets. So maybe put a bit more effort into them blizzard…A cool set can single-handedly be the only reason someone participates in an arena season, even while they despise other parts of the game (including balance).
Because blizz doesnt let them. I absolutely would be fine with mythic tier mogs being exclusive, and I knew mythic raiders when i got a CE that shared that sentiment. Blizz just never has made it a thing so it isnt a thing. But mythic raiders can absolutely be gatekeepy in other ways.
Plagued grains. 2 hour cooldown. Can be used anywhere except Lights Hope, which gives you a unique error message. Clicking the toy makes you “die” and turn into a ghoul 10 seconds later.
Also “Familiar Journal” also a 2 hour cooldown. Begins an “unfinished ritual” that doesn’t seem to resolve.
That is a complete Seprate can of worms, sure that was time gated to legion but that was also due to the unique mechanics of the Artifacts that were disabled.
Yet mythic players push every raid knowing that the only thing exclusive they get is a title if they are in the HOF interesting…
