No, it has made splits less lucrative by evidence of the top guilds having to run more splits than when ML was a thing. Thing is, the players getting paid to be good at wow will go to insane lengths to be competitive in RWF so it doesn’t matter if they have to make 15 characters to make sure one of them gets 4 piece week 1, they’ll do it. The splits become less lucrative on a per split basis, but all that does is widen the gap between the top and everyone else.

On the subject of RWF, trying to break into that scene as a new guild is a monumental task. One guild spent nearly 6 figures worth of gold on this race (based on wow token conversions). Without having sponsors and big followings that isn’t really possible. Sure, theoretically you can put together a marginally better roster, if you can somehow convince people to give up paid positions to join your new RWF team but even if you did that the difference in funding to get gear would be more than the difference in performance your better team could manage. That of course isn’t to say I could ever have anything to do with the race personally, I just hate seeing blizz’s decisions creating a rich get richer scenario where real world money is a very real part of who can win the game. The upstart plucky underdog isn’t really possible right now.

Right, and what everyone is telling you is that if ML is an option, it will be forced on the people who don’t want it.

We don’t need to talk about this as a hypothetical because we have had ml and PL both as option before in legion and that isn’t what happened.

Here’s a solution.

Create a separate Realm with ML enabled.

That way players know going into that realm it’s an option and it’s most likely going to be a thing. Then just let players decide if they want to play with it enabled or disabled.

Boom problem solved.

I’m going to bet that not many players are gonna go join that realm

If the transfers are free to it then it would be a hell of a server to raid on. I’m going in 0.1 seconds along with the vast majority of ce raiders.

I would love this actually. It would concentrate the higher level players so well.

I don’t know why you would need a different realm instead of just an option that people can then choose to stay or not based on but it would have the happy side effect I stated above.

It would be funny watching the tears of other people who don’t go though who then don’t get carried in pugs because all the highest players are gone lol.

There have been people hard core min maxing since the birth of the game. I don’t think it would be drastically different now.

That’s exactly what we are asking for. The option to toggle it on when we have found the group that wants it. Which many of us are already in.

I did. I made a guild that used it. And we ask everyone when they join how they think loot should be handled, and everyone who applies says “personal loot is stupid, I wish they would let us have loot options instead”.
