Ya see, hoss, you’re not looking at things from the other person’s point of view. If you were, you wouldn’t still be arguing that you’re right, and he’s wrong. You would have realized that not everyone plays the same way as you and perhaps ML is not right for them and would have admitted that the current loot system is the best we’re going to get until human nature changes.

Actually at this point I do anything I can to push Bloodypaws buttons. PL is one of the worst loot systems to date. PS just like him neither of you realize you arent forced into ML.

You see, you can’t fix greed and ML allows greed to run rampant whereas PL does not. Prevention is the best medicine.

When I raided regularly in my old guild, before PL, we used ML and there was never a problem. I didn’t have a problem with ML then, and don’t now. What I do have a problem with is people being unfair, PL eliminates any unfairness.

The loot systems have to be uniform so everyone can work on the same playing field. It will be one or the other. The problems with having the option are detail very well in the first page of this thread. There is hard realities to deal with of how people will gravely misuse dual master loot and personal loot systems. The problem is not the loot distribution system, the problem is the loot system itself. These problems can not be solved without solving the actual problem. Playing whack-a-mole with symptoms for 18 years is why WoW has had such severe decline and toxicity.

That’s viewing the question at the bare minimum level of depth. It’s fair on exactly one axis of that question.

Player A and B kill Boss X and Player B wins Weapon Z due to /roll.

That’s as far as your analysis goes.

Now add in other confounding factors to the equation.

-Effort put in to downing the boss between the players. Player A put in 200 pulls to kill the boss and Player B put in 10 pulls after it was on farm.

-Effort put in to farm the boss between the players. Player A put in 3 months of farm to kill the boss, and Player B just joined the team.

-Performance (I know, no one likes that here, but it is something to think about). Player A was a top performer throughout progression (not just DPS, but mechanics, etc.) and Player B died nearly every pull becoming an actual detriment to progression.

-Attendance between players. Player A consistently shows up every night (>95% attendance), while Player B routinely misses the raid and sometimes gives poor notice of absences (~50% attendance).

Assume one or even all of those factors are now in play. You really going to tell me that it is entirely FAIR… that the BiS weapon goes to player B? Really? Turn the raid into a job, and turn the weapon into a bonus. You think it’d be FAIR that the bonus would go to worker B? Really?

I wouldn’t call that fair. Not at all.

If you failed 200 times and then brought a pug in and succeeded, it would appear that the pug was the reason for your success. He deserves the loot.

Imagine pointing to asmongold as your example of how things are typically. You realize he’s literally known for doing stuff like that right? Did you… did you expect anything different from his raid? Meanwhile I’ve yet to see a single instance of loot ninjaing throughout my entire BC classic experience. Do I deny that it occurs? Absolutely not, but that does not indicate that it’s some rampant tax that plagues the entire playerbase. It’s not.

Y’all do know the reason for anything blizz does is for time played metric right? The longer you take to clear the more time you play, the more sub time they get.

1 person getting incremental upgrades for the whole tier is okay as long as next week y’all try again and spend more time and money on WoW.

WoW is played for loot, it’s Diablo on a lower scale and requires sub that’s about it. Anyone saying they play for fun and for progress really shouldn’t care about loot. Cause yknow, progress means you keep running until you can clear it.
