Nobody has an ego over mage tower rewards. Wanting things that were advertised as exclusive to stay exclusive is not having an ego.
On the other hand, the entitlement from people that didn’t earn challenge rewards and want them back is staggering.

It is not about “strength” or scaling. It is about how classes and specs may completely change from expansion to expansion.
The challenges were made and tuned with how specs worked at Legion, level scaling isn’t the solution.
Give up, Blizzard do not go back when they remove expansion’s exclusive content. If they took away, then it is gone. Forever. =/
You do realize the second sentence cancels out the first right?
I would rather blizzard make new cosmetics and new challenges. While I certainly enjoyed doing the challenges in their time, I know blizzard will never be able to scale them properly or recreate the experience as it was. I would rather they invest their time into a new challenge that will fit the expansion it is made for that won’t require a monstrous amount of time to be tuned.
I know you’re a demon hunter, but you shouldn’t be able to not see the point of my statement.
The argument of “well this is exclusive” can be applied EVERYWHERE.
The statement of “this is time limited” cannot, because it means something different.
All content is exclusive to the patch it came out, so using that as an argument is poor.
Oh well. You snooze you lose.
How so with the Mage Tower though? 99.9~% of Legion is still there. This was one tiny aspect of it. An overwhelming majority of the old content hasn’t been removed (Unless you count the Cata revamp). The only problem I have are the story aspects, especially since they weren’t side stories and were part of the main plot. Make the cape and ring purple for all I care, just leave the story.
But part of the Mage Tower’s gimmick was that it was time-sensitive. That was a core aspect of it. So if they did bring it back, they would in a sense be retroactively removing that content.
None of this really matters though. Even if you had a rock-solid indisputable argument, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s gone for good. There is zero chance it’s coming back. After the Challenge Appearances went away, there were scores of threads just like the Mage Tower ones with people demanding that it come back. These threads were all over the place. Over time, they slowly and slowly began to become more rare. Now you virtually never see them. That’s exactly what’s going to happen with the Mage Tower discussion. I really don’t have a dog in this fight and that’s not because I don’t care one way or another, I just know it’s futile. I think it’s far more likely that Alliance gets High Elves and I’d put that at a .00001% chance. There are far better things to focus your energy on when it comes to these forums.
Blizzard knows their fanbase, they know that they are desperate to feel special and love to delude themselves they deserved the time limited skins or achieved something even though literally the only thing required to get those was just to play during those expansions.
That is why the removal of the Brutosaur shows the kind of hypocrites they are, it shows that they are fine with removing content but when it is content they arent playing it is suddenly bad and wrong, hypocrisy at its maximum.
Sadly wow is filled with many sad people who like to take pride in skilless “achievements” and blizzard knows this.
Most of the content is there for most of the previous expansions yes, but part of the reason people complain about the mage tower matter is because it provides skins.
Transmogs are permanent, they’re one of the few things that truly are permanent. So for some individuals, they feel they missed out.
Keep in mind, if they made it available thats good, if they don’t that’s fine too. I am not too bothered by it.
The only stuff I’ve ever been miffed about was the MoP Challenge stuff, because at the time, I didn’t know it was time limited. Thems the beats though.
One of the cornerstones of MMOs is achieving things with your character to make you feel special. And there’s nothing wrong with that, assuming you’re not a jerk to others about it. That’s one of the main attractions of the genre.
Your words must be magic if I see them.
See what you do here is you change the words but want them to mean the samething.
“well this is exclusive” and this is time limited” do not mean the samething. So yes you’re right, using that as an argument is poor.
No. If you didn’t do it at the time, too bad. This game doesn’t have enough time limited rewards as it is.
Blizzard - guys let us introduce mage tower. It has special artifact skin that’ll go away at next expac’s prepatch
Commnity(who doesn’t care) - huhummmm

Commnity(who doesn’t care) - HOW DARE YOU CUT CONTENT BLIZZARD
Not sure what metaphor you aimed for here.
I mean…I literally just said is “these words mean different things because these are different words.”. So how did you manage to strawman me here?
So…you agree with me?
That is actually a cornerstone of gaming, it makes people who have no skill or talent feel better about themselves because they designed made them think they achieved something while they didnt, big flashy graphics, rewards for menial tasks, time limited events.
What is really going on in the game industry is people pay money in order to get a delusional feeling they achieved something, and I am against delusions and living in lies.
And no, ALL the time limited events were not really something that only skilled people could do, literally ANYONE could get it if they played during that expansion, you could buy carries for all that were spammed in /1 and /2, you could overgear mage tower that made the mage tower challenge a literal joke to the point even a badly balanced timewalking version would be harder.
There’s no excuse, blizzard is selling a delusion and people who dont understand their own selves and psychology gladly eat it up.
There’s a difference between feeling good about a personal achievement you achieved and another one sold to you by a company because they make it time limited.
Nope. If you missed it you missed it. Look forward to future challenges and mog.
It would also mean blizzard blatantly lied to all players for over a year. That won’t go over well. Better luck next time.
It is so hilarious to watch the people who cried about the removal of the Brutosaur defending the removal of everything else.
That is what hypocricy looks like, and that is why you should never trust such people.
I didn’t get a single MT appearance.
IF they bring back the MT, it should be with different rewards - also limited by the time the MT is re-opened.
Those rewards (however much I want them) that were originally won thru Legion MT should never be available again.
You know now that I read it again. You are right and I do agree. People are using the word exclusive wrong.
As for the metaphor. Scrap it. Long day and I was thinking something different with DH sight.
Sometimes, but you’re painting with a really broad and unfair brush. And many people can feel that enjoyment and still be self-conscious about where those feelings are coming from and what separates them from similar feelings that come from accomplishments of substance.
I didn’t say they were so I’m not sure why you’re saying “And no”.
It seems to be working on you, since you feel so strongly about it. You said it yourself. “Big flashy graphics”. If these things are so hollow, then you shouldn’t care at all that they’re gone? Right? Riiiiiiiiight?
