You didn’t have to pay a dime. You could have chosen classic era as your realm for free. You only had to pay if you went to TBC and wanted an additional clone on classic era.

That’s not a player’s responsibility, and you are out of place playing the blame game on this.
Blizz said they’d keep the lights on even if only a handful are playing. They are used to subs going low in droughts, it’s been this way for years. Just pointing out that you seem to take this a lot more personally than they do.

Given that in any objective view this seems to be directly limiting players ability to play the game for no beneficial reason and the amount of people who are asking for this, it would be ridiclous for blizzard to not reimplement the cloneing feature, From launch blizzard stated that they would support classic wow for as long as wow was a thing, and forced transfers while and limited time support for cloning services to classic era seems to be “support” with a massive asterix.
The Classic Era Clone service needs to be reimplemented immediately.

I just came back to my classic era all revved up to unlock a couple of my clones, only to find they had been deleted.
I spent a lot of time on those characters. Leveling to 60 in classic is no joke. I want them back. I’d rather not have to pay since I already put so much effort into them; but I would, since that’s how it seems to work these days. At least I still have this Warrior, but I want the others back.

Man I know exactly what you mean I was the exact same! Unfortunately I had no idea about the cloning as I was away and blizz sent now messages regarding it or character deletion however I believe in them, they will bring back character cloning in the near future we just need to let them know the demand is there so keep letting them know

If they were offering the cloning service for that long, there is no chance they do not have a backup of all character data. Maybe they did delete it, but that would be a monumentally stupid move when comparing the cost of data storage to the money they can charge for it.
Pretend each character’s database entry is 10 MB. With 10 million characters, that would still only be 100 TB of storage required. You can store that for $2,000 with new hard drives. If 10% of those characters paid for a cloning service at $5, they would make $5,000,000.

I had a level 35 Paladin i would clone if they brought back the option to do it retroactively. Would pay good $ for that, even though hes only 35.

It’s really weird to me that people are opposed to clones. Like…do you think you’re special that you cloned your naxx character? Is it an ego thing? I cloned my naxx geared shaman just as a trophy to have and I couldn’t care less if others get to get their clones back. Like who cares?

If you’re a normal person it’s hard to comprehend isn’t it? lol. I still remember I got whispers from people from buying a boost on wotlk and TBC and those special mounts. Like dude, you only got one and by that time people already went through their leveling experience.
If anything I’m helping support the further development of classic version of the game, they honestly thought they had a say in how I spend my money like wtf?

I don’t think people are opposed to clones as much as they are opposed to seeing multiple posts about something that will never happen.
Not everything in this world can be resolved by demanding it.
Why do you care if there’s a post about it or not? It’s not your server space, you’re not the one paying for this site. Who cares if other people wanna request something?
