Even so, if the data still exists in some recoverable form, then maybe it can happen again.
I think Blizzard seriously thought that maybe Era servers were dead forever and would eventually be folded. Heck, I thought that too throughout TBC and start of WOTLK. I logged onto this character maybe just for a few hours during start of TBC and didnāt check on it until this month.
But now SOM and such has shown that eventually, there will be more characters brought over to Era from seasonal servers and the like that eventually end.
So maybe it was a bit shortsighted to end the clone service (obviously hindsight is 20/20 so itās easy for me to say).
I cloned my toons that I cared to clone, but would also support bringing it back if possible for others to be able to bring back copies of their TBC/WOTLK toons.
If the data is truly gone forever, then it is what it is. Hopefully though Era does manage to stick around continually gain people from seasonal servers in the future.
Era servers provide an important service as a āpermanent homeā for vanilla/classic toons.

Thatās my thought too. Once they realize āoh thereās money to be made hereā itāll come back around.
Itād be different if they announced the clones with a deadline, but the fact that they announced the service would be retired a year and a half later means they werenāt playing the FOMO card with clones when TBC came out indicating that they really thought ERA was just going to die out.
Or they could be a few steps ahead of us, and planned to pull it the whole time. Wait for the demand to return, and then charge the 35 bucks they originally wanted.
Most profitable way would be to open it now while there is still a high demand for it for a limited time, cash out all that want it, āretireā the service again. And later down in a few months when ERA dies down and the people who missed it now would be back on these forums and the cycle repeats.
Ngl thatās what I would do, and come around the 3rd or 4th time Iād wait extra long just to make sure people donāt catch on or think itāll always come back around lol.

All for cloning service resuming, its a money maker for blizzard. And lets us bring back our characters we lost before returning to the resurrection of classic era.

I only paid to have 1 of my 60ās cloned thinking that those servers would probably remain mostly empty but things have changed and I want the option to revive my other characters.

I actually have a 60 on era thats new and Iāve done hardcore a few times, but died. I want my clones back and still playing, I know shocking. Iām not going to redo ranking and naxx on two toons probably ever, I want them back for the forever servers. I never bought gold or did gdkps either, I literally spent 2 years only playing wow. I donāt understand how people donāt get that we want our huge once in a life time investments back.
