Bring back cross-region RDF for OCE servers

Hi,

Given most of the PVP servers are heavily one sided now especially in OCE why cant we bring back cross-realm in RDF. It is enabled in PVP (BG’s) and it works very well. Queue times are 2mins max where as RDF is anywhere between 10mins - 1.5 hours as a tank or healer.

Was hoping that mop prepatch would increase queue times as alliance in OCE servers however its still just the same long wait times. More and more Alliance are just quitting as we cant be bothered to wait 1 hour for a queue to pop.

any chance you can consider this?

RDF is cross-realm…

Like Jimmey said, they are cross realm.
Your problem is the lack of healers or tanks, or people in your level bracket not wanting to do dungeons.

read what he wrote. Apparently the OCE realms are not cross realm with the US realms in RDF(only pvp).

The 2 people who replied are on OCE realms. One of them is even on a dead realm.

Edit: Sorry just 1 of them, confused Jimmey with OP’s realm.

I have a 70 warlock on Remulos so I can check.

Ok yeah Mayomeld is correct, Queued into a dungeon at level 70, out of the 5 of us, 2 were on remulos, the other 3 Arugal.

Yet on my US toons I have done plenty of protocols, and have not seen anyone from either of these 2 realms.

I did. Their problem is not cross-realm; it’s cross-region.

They never were in any iteration of WoW at this point.

The MS would be insane, and far too high for any member of the party to effectively play.

Not exactly.

sorry i mean cross -realms with US realms. We have it with PVP and its not bad. why not just enable it with RDF

RDF and PvP have different rules for hosting.

kinda sucks it just forces you to reroll horde which is more dominate which defeats the purpose of a pvp server. more and more ally are just switching to horde for this reason and its getting even worse.

No one is forcing you to do anything.

The lag in pvp is atrocious because of this garbage.

Since OP referenced the PVP queues, he clearly is asking for cross region, just worded it wrong.

It would work like PVP, they are just all mostly US based. I’m in Aus and raid just fine on Whitemane with the MS.

The way RDF works is that it picks a server to host the dungeon run.

If Oceanic players were able to queue with US players, then RDF might select the Oceanic realm to host, thereby increasing the US players’ latency. The same rule applies to Oceanic players on a US-based RDF run.

Blizzard already tried doing this before. The latency was ridiculous.

There is a VERY big difference here. You made the choice to play on Whitemane, knowing that there may be connection issues. Opening RDF to cross-region is not a choice players are making.

It IS a bummer that Oceanic players are experiencing terrible queue times, but they can always choose to come play on US realms at any time.

Pretty much what I did at the start of cata, with the help of another fellow aussie, he had already found a guild looking for people. And the 180ms I’m experiencing now is alot better than what I raided with in OG MoP.

LOL no it isnt we learned to play with 600ms plus, can easily handle 250ms which is what it is for me in cross region retail groups or was till I stopped playing, but it seems that the rest of the world thinks 250 is high and unplayable.

Not everyone had 600ms or higher, even back before Blizzard implemented their “fix” to lower it.

I, for example, had 350-400 be my highest consistent connection back then (in and around 2005-2007).

So your personal experience of 250 ms is universal?

So, first, your experience isn’t universal, by any means.

Secondly, considering we’re at, what, 20-30 ms on average right now, we’d see a significant change going to at the minimum 250 ms.

There’s also a difference between “unplayable” and being unable to play to the best of our abilities.

150ms is unplayable?

still on dial up bro?

Yeah… you wouldn’t get 150ms on dial-up, but nice try.

Easy solution, add either a check box that lets you queue for both regions with a warning that US groups will be hosted by US players only or a pop up after 5-10 mins in queue asking if you want to queue into US servers with a warning you will be on their ping.

Aussies get better queues or can choose to sit long queues with oceanic only, Americans don’t have ping issues.

This is such a simple solution I don’t even know why this is contentious.
