Brewmaster Tree minorly redesigned in 10.0.5 PTR

Stagger is now baseline so you get an extra talent point, but now you’re forced to take a bad talent, so it evens out?

Some of the bad talents were condensed to 1 Talent point. And Quick Sip was buffed 5x lol

New talent in Spirit of the Ox: Your Rising Sun Kick and Blackout Kick have a chance to summon a Healing Sphere. (there’s your RSK interaction everyone)

These changes are…weird.

I love that new talent. I like have condensed choices over double talent everywhere that no one takes rank2 of

Spirit of the Ox looks like a must have talent even if it didn’t have RSK synergy. I’m sure others would rather have Keg of the Heavens which I can’t blame them, it was a really good set bonus.

Quick Sip change improves it and kind of pits it as the only good option when compared to Staggering Strikes and Healing Elixir.

Staggering Strikes, this talent still seems situational and only useful in M+ during AoE pulls. As a single target talent option its value is now lower than Quick Sip. Of course you could use it alongside Quick Sip but I think the singular point could be used in better spots.

Graceful Exit. Under Healing Elixirs. Wasn’t a crazy useful talent, but now its just stuck in a bad spot.

I like most of the changes they’ve shown here at the moment though I do hope they’ll re evaluate our up front mitigation. Having been running BrM I feel stuck with Primal Ritual Shell and Cobalt assembly absorb ring to just fill in gaps in my defenses.

Also can we do something about Zen Meditation, this ability has had such a cool animation and yet its a 5 minute cooldown, has a bunch of restrictions and as a result stuck as a super situational ability. Would rather see it work like Spell reflect or become Brewmasters one Active Mitigation ability.

I think they need to move invoke niuazo as well. Maybe swap it with exploding keg and condense his talents somehow.

Somehow the new tree makes me short a point at the end…hmm.

On my Brew I run these and the dragonscale…adds up to more than CB.

Is this a buff for brewmasters? I’d say certainly so.

Does this make us Rank S tier or as good as the other tanks? No idea, but these are welcomed changes.

It does allow us to obtain the full effects of these talent points by only investing in one point whereas many take 2 points as of 10.0.0. And we get one new talent that the community certainly has been asking for: some Brewmaster synergy for those that take Rising Sun Kick.

I’m just glad the devs are not jusut listening to their community but reacting to them quickly rather than the next patch or expansion.

Anyone that has played BRM then played any of the other tanks immediately notices huge differences.
Go play solo in Cobalt or Dragonkeep as BRM and die repeatedly. Other tanks just weather them out.

While I know we need some buffs (Bring Obstinate Determination back please), I’m soloing stuff just fine by myself. 3 elites at a time i can handle. I just struggle in heroics pulling more than 2 packs.

Did the math change for orb healing? On the old tree is says (240% Attack Power) * 50/100 on the PTR is just says 240% attack power.

It used to be a 2 point skill
or it was changed to a single point skill, to be more accurate.

I was super excited to jump in as BrM in Dragonflight but when they buffed creature damage, then followed later with a nerf to ALL tanks that just sealed it for me.
Might keep my monk around as ww, but I’m getting my druid caught up to take over as my main.
I do plan to try out the changes on PTR and see if it is enough to help some. But without actual buffs to the spec, it’s just too far behind the other options currently.
:beers:

Keg of Heavens in there as a Talent would be amazing. even if they took it down from 66% to like 30%… It would be a taken talent by all I feel…

It was such an amazing set bonus and would bring us a little closer with the other tanks… maybe change the HP buff to a Absorb shield like idk EVERY OTHER TANK. I know we got CB but having a small one from keg smash would be freaking killer…

maybe too far…

The changes are nice but don’t address the core issues we are having atm, very frustrating.

It is weird playing brewmaster and having your health yoyo like a dk. The whole point is supposed to be higher but smoother damage in take but for some reason they are determined to make magic damage truck the class. It does not help that m+ has so much magic damage now.

I agree. A lot of people in the forums are calling for more self heals but the true issue is lack of mitigation / stagger to smooth damage. Traditionally Brew was a super smooth damage intake tank which is definitely not the case right now.

I do hope you bring the stat of brewmaster up in whatever the wow community council is.

Ive brought it up in every situation it would fit. HOPEFULLY they understand how bad it is by how annoying I am

Doing the work of saints here!

I like the Keg of Heavens giving a shield/absorb. You open with it most of the time to get shuffle rolling and it would smooth out the incoming dmg at the start of a pull.

I think the main issue is that they have Stagger and purifying brew backwards. Stagger scaling with agility makes it crap at the start of the expansion and broken at the end. Stagger should be a static % that works to turn a leather wearer into a tank, then purifying brew can scale with agility to purify more so brewmasters scale with agility like other tanks.

Imagine if stagger was just a flat 75% and purifying was 40% base, 45% at item level ~480 and ~55% at the end of the expansion just to throw some numbers around.
