Very much this, we had our niche as highest damage or tied for highest damage tank for a long time which propped us up. This season we no longer have that, dispels are quite rare for us, our CC isnt special and is just worse than AoE interrupts or defensive group utility, our raid buff is weak. We need to have some niche that other tanks dont have
Thatās OK, weāre just doing our thing. Thanks for keeping the conversation on Brew going.
Every spec that is underrepresented should have a thread imo, bring attention where its needed from the people who play it and love it.
3% and 100% to tier are not enough to make up for the 30-50% DPS difference in tanks right now. Either post notes saying weāre getting reworked in 11.1.5 or increase the buffs. Thanks.
How do you measure DPS is the question. Thereās a brew doing 15ās at over 2 mil DPS. Thatās higher than most tanks right now
Sorry, I should clarify - raid DPS.
Iām really hoping for some additional tuning for brewmaster soon.
And? The same leaderboards will show a prot war doign 2.7m and a bdk doing 2.5m, and multiple paladins/vdhās doing over 2m as well.
But only 1 monk is doing just over 2m means its balanced? Do you even know Porsea and how he plays? Hes a pad queen.
āWeād rather you didnāt play demonology Brewmaster.ā
Youāre assuming tanks at that level arenāt also padding? It shows over 2 mil actually beating DH and thatās before these buffs go through
I donāt know if the play here is to take the logs of one person to make the call here - rather to look at the collective and I think itās not a ārest of the Brews just gotta get goodā issue here.
Archon which is run by the same people as WCL:
(Mythic raid logs)
The buffs according to Sha, should be collectively about ~4.5% considering how much we press Blackout kick, which puts us in Protection Paladin territory.
To summarise: we havenāt been a desirable M+ for a while now. I donāt think weāre shaping out to be a desirable raid tank when there is this much of a discrepancy.
(Lastly I am going to defend Blood tank here a bit - parses RE: Sanālayn will look better than normal because getting a large amount of runs will lead to someone getting more Blood Beast procs and often people only look at the top percentile⦠aka they look better than what you will get rolling Blood DK).
We are only a couple weeks in and Brew is already around 2 keys behind the other tanks. Its also WAY behind in raid⦠so far that the advantage of having a Brew for progression is probably wiped out for any Mythic raids.
I also donāt think they are listening because Prot war has had a similar problem for a while now where their utility in M+ just isnāt that great and they have poor self sustain. I thought maybe that was why Prot war damage was tuned so high but they are already coming for them.
During PTR they nerfed some decent uses of Spell reflect and Diffuse Magic. Its one of the only things War and Monk have that no other classes can do and its super niche but they still nerfed it.
The Mud trinket was pretty good for Brew on PTR and they nerfed that⦠so clearly they are watching Brew but only seem to care about what could make it good. The last 4 seasons 1 tank has been busted level good compared to the others and for some reason Brew canāt even get a trinket that works a bit better for themā¦
Its really starting to feel intentional. You can go back to SL without seeing a single Brewmaster in the top few hundred keys for a season. The last time Brew was in a decent spot also appears to be the last time one tank didnāt totally dominate M+.
āBut its viableā
No. No its not. Brewmaster has a hard time even getting invites⦠even when you have already timed the key you want to do. Even when you over gear the content. Even with a shortage of tanks many people would rather wait.
The last paragraph is exactly what happened to me. If you stalk my S1 RIO history I pushed to 8/9s literally in week 1-2.
No issues getting invites and I found dungeons pretty easy. As soon as the āmetaā formed, fewer invites.
Definitely experienced that last sentence and itās crazily baffling. Iāll have a key on an 11 and be applying to 12s while the people I usually play with are offline and Iāll see them just leave me in purgatory for nearly the entire duration of the application before accepting another tank, or Iāll see people decline me and see the same group still listed 5-10 minutes later still 4/5 with no tank. Brewmaster has such negative community perception because of its persistent weaknesses that itās honestly heartbreaking.
Not just brew, mate. I also get the same treatment as prot war. They only want VDH. And blizzard also wants that to happen. They design m+ around VDH and prot pally.
They want a tank that can do the group-ups and soft ints for them so they can just press happy damage buttons.
Blizzard, a multi billion company canāt afford spec devs for balance. While Division 2 is run by a skeleton crew of 5 is still having regular updates and really good balance.
Whos gonna tell Blizzard that lack of spec balance is part of the reason why their M+ esport is failing.
Blizzard doesnāt realize how important class design is.
Class design is THE most important thing in the game, since our characters are the vehicle through which we experience everything else.
I canāt completely agree
I feel Brewmaster is underrepresented mainly because it takes way more skill than other tanks and not just because its performance because again, in high enough keys, Brewmaster outscales some other tanks
Neat.
