I miss PTA being a thing, and wish it wasn’t a choice node with WoO. Removing Tiger Palm as an active made RSK basically being a free pick feel so much nicer.
Admittedly, I don’t know why Dance even exists for Brewmaster, but I wish Dampen was still on that choice node for the other two specs.
Honestly, I just miss Chi Wave being an active ability, but I prefer it as a passive to Chi Burst as an active.
Yu’lon’s feels like a neat idea that doesn’t do much for a tank spec compared to Diffuse’s usefulness.
It’s nice as a passive to not think about it, but I feel like it isn’t fun or interesting. It’s just another layer of passive. It should increase Stagger’s efficacy against magic instead if it’s gonna be a boring passive, because at least it would feel impactful then.
I’m glad this exists as a choice, and apparently BOB prefers High Tolerance while BAW prefers Anvil and Stave? I like choices like these.
I think Mountain Thane is a good example of a completely passive Hero Tree that still feels majorly impactful due to minor changes with flavor and ability visuals. Shado-Pan is neat and I like the little flurry, but it’s easy to miss in the middle of active combat, even moreso as Windwalker. Maybe the Flurry could be condensed into a massive chi-animation roundhouse kick, or even a chi-enhanced weapon swing, but at the end of the day I’ve felt Shado-Pan needs a solid semi-rework since I tested it in the beta. It just feels like things happening in the background that I have minimal control over.
Zen Med is one of those awkward things that technically probably should work better, but in the situations it works well for (massive singular hit, DoT/rot, and purely magical attacks), it works REALLY well. There used to be something about it absorbing more physical hits at one point, I think during Legion or Shadowlands? I’d have to look.
Flurry’s animation looks super cool and honestly it should have been the new animation for Fists of Fury and they should have came up for a different animation/name for Flurry.
I 100% agree with what the OP said. I am in love with the concept of Brew. I literaly play all tanks, not because of metas, but because of what kind of playstyle i am in the mood for.
This patch i have a 2.5k war, 2k DH, 1.7k brew.
I wanted to main brew both this patch and last xpac but i found it too annoying. I am not talking about scaling, IDC abt that, but the issue i found was with the GOD DAMN ANIMATIONS!!! They feel glitchy as hell. Especially on big races like orc and tauren.
We need a complete animation overhaul + 1 additional group utility that allows us to be on the same level as other tanks.
This is an extremely old comment at this point, but Brewmaster very much is in need of a rework. Not a rework to the cores of the spec though, just a major talent rework to address bloat talents (aka things that are mandatory for the spec to function or so close to 100% pickrate that they’re basically mandatory) and underwhelming talents (RIP niuzao), among other issues. I’m sure that’s what you mean, but I also worry that any passing devs (if any exist) might see that and think aura buffs are good enough.
