BRD Anniversary Raid Was A Failure

It’s not fun to tell people to sit out of anything for any reason, but that’s sometimes the type of price you pay for trying things out, which is what they did with BRD.

Which they shouldn’t have. Even the Timewalking raids scale to 30 players.

I enjoyed the BRD raid more than I do Timewalking raids. I do the TW raids for the quests and phone it in for the duration.

It was a failure because it was massively overtuned in normal/heroic. It was OK enough on LFR for alts, but normal/heroic were wildly overtuned (yes, even after they were nerfed).

It failed for 1 simple reason, it wasn’t BRD, we were told we would get BRD and we got that half baked mess that barely resembled the dungeon we all loved back in the day.

I only ran the LFR version, but even then the minibosses were harder than the actual ones.

Seeing entire raids get feared, diseased (I had a run where people, including me, had the disease going into Incendius), stunned…It was terrifying. And then Fineous just casually freecasting heals while my Counter Shot is on a 15 sec CD.

I’ll kinda miss it, to be honest.

Or even have some of the same people run it twice to help their guildmates out, knowing they won’t get loot. And those folks having been through the fights already will even increase the second group’s chances.

  1. Gear drops nowhere close to enticing enough to run the place.

I can run it for worthless gear any time I want to experience nostalgia. This raid really pissed me off. I was beyond excited when they announced that they were doing a BRD encounter. I consider BRD to be the best dungeon ever. Thanks, Blizzard, for absolutely nothing.

Talking to Moira pointed you in its direction. I only did it on LFR.

because Blizzard is lazy, rather than re-tuning all the existing gear for a modern or current game, they just boost the item level and call it a day. So you get gear that isnt worth the effort.

Just look at all the gear while questing, if you do anything pre-wrath at a later stage, like going through what used to be lower levels, you get useless gear with zero secondaries. Why? they didnt re-tune or re-balance the gear, it just boosts the item level, so you end up with trash gear.

say what you want, it should have been flex raiding on normal and heroic. Period.

Basically no guild does hard raid attendance requirments anymore because of flex raiding. It makes it way easier for adults, who have varied schedules, and priorities outside of gaming to attend organized play events like raiding.

Setting it 15, was just a bad idea unless they also set the difficulty so low that it could 1 shot by any group of 2/2/11 formed up through the premade group tool

Sure, but not all content needs to follow that format.

BRD wasn’t meant to be something you pushed like Palace.

I enjoyed it. Was a good raid. I dn’t think “anniversary raids” should exist, I think all content should be permanent though.

The LFR version was fun as hell when you brought in a level 30’ish and did billions of dmg before that got fixed.

The BRD raid was an important test bed. It showed that they could make a raid without weak aura dependent mechanics. Everything was important and simple.

Here’s hoping they carry this into the next raid.

Classic AV was poppin.

Even the LFR version was a tad overtuned for that crowd - no one reads up before doing LFR; people just play by the ear. Actually wiped twice - the Seven and Incendius*.

* Had to read the Adventure Guide to find out what is going wrong.

It was a failure because the loot was awful and not worth it. That is the main reason more than any other.

So that’s why they overtuned it?

The major issue was the itemization, the stats on the gear was beyond horrible. And there was no real achievements or benefits to do it outside of LFR.

Outside of a little fun to plug time once or twice.

Also Mythic raids need to be flex as is.
