BRD was meant to be a fun nostalgia raid plus gear catch up for alts, and not a new raid to gear up your current main.
It was a failure because it capped out at 15 players in my guild has more than 15 players.
Are you borderline special needs?
Our guilds raid team is usually 16-20 people a given week. Every raid since WoD on Normal/Heroic has been 10-30 player flex. Itâs not fun telling people to sit out of the raid this week because itâs capped at 15 players.
Ulduar/BT timewalking is a bit different where the last boss (which most people look for skip groups) has a Kill Quest which gives a chunk of timewalking badges, 1/6 hero level gear, and a high chance at a mount from the (Invincible, Ashes of Alar, etc).
While those who generally want to run a full run do it for a fresh max level character as a quick way to get champion track gear (which they donât care about stats). Since Timewalking Raids still scale you down in level.
Then there shouldnât have been multiple difficulties.
The raid wasnât required for the mount achievement so I didnât even bother with it. Only did the Chromie Scenario once and did that on a DPS alt.
I really enjoyed it. Didnât get all that far, but my guild had a blast and even wants to try current content raiding now.
I imagine for an easier time balancing. Though, the bosses were still damage sponges.
With how few pieces of gear I ever saw⌠I donât think I cared enough if a few didnât have mastery to constitute an entire raid as a failure.
Experimentation. Expect to see them pop up later. Especially the giant fire AoE in the new goblin land.
I didnât hate it, but the difficulty compared to the rewards just didnât balance out.
classic contrarian, always at least one.
Iâm addition to what youâve brought up, the ilvl should have been higher in BRD. Halfway between mythic and heroic would have been best. Ilvl 632 gear.
Our guild was simply not interested in it which is unfortunate because we tried to make it a thing after burning out of Nerub-ar Palace heroic and not having enough to do Mythic.
Thatâs what the 5? raid testing days on the PTR over the next 2 months are for!
My tinfoil theory is that Ion sabotaged it on purpose to prove that raids between tiers were unpopular.
The effort to reward ratio was so ludicrous there is no way multiple Blizzard employees did not know for certain it would fail.
It was good, it just didnât spit out good loot which is the only thing anybody cares about.
I disagree⌠it was bizarrely tuned. The mechanics where mostly obvious and worked well. The issue was hp was so high unless you had a mythic raidar group level of skill you were not killing it at its intended gear level.
Heroic felt tuned for mythic and normal for heroic. Its doable⌠but it doesnât fit anywhere naturally in the progression curve. Its why it was mostly ignored.
My guild is not a mythic raiding guild. We are so casual that youâd find a screenshot of one of our boss kills next to the term âcasualâ in the gaming dictionary.
That said, we cleared heroic BRD with very few tears and/or lamentations.
The issue we had with it was: no achievement for clearing it. No mount, title, toy, or even an achievement to say, âHey, remember when we did that?â
It was super underwhelming. It doesnât even show up on our armory for the season, for crying out loud.
WellâŚthis is likely true for a lot of players, but for our group, after getting AotC in the palace raid, BRD was just something fun and nostalgic to do together to keep people active between tiers. We cleared it in two weeks (we raid very short hours b/c weâre all old and lazy), and none of us were looking for gear out of there.
It would have been nice to have more novel transmog drops, though.
Big irony innit?
Blizzards 20 year anniversary, and they didn´t understand that the success of the event they put effort into depended on loot.
20 years and they don´t understand their own game roflmao
I did it enough to get 90 of those keys, bought two items yesterday for 40 keys a piece and I guess the leftover 10 will just sit there or vanish. Didnât hate it. /shrug
I didnât mind it although I only ran it on LFR so I could complete the achieves for it.
Wouldâve seen 100x the interest if you had to do it for the remastered tier sets instead of a few bgs/wqs.
I never did it. By the time it was nerfed it seemed like NOBODY was doing it. Looked for groups. Nothinâ
LFR queue was looong
