Brazilians do not speak spanish

I miss seeing the Elemental de Agua and running up to it for a /lick.

Good days.

What’s embarrassing is you trying to misrepresent my position and using a false analogy to misrepresent my argument just because you don’t like them.

I think that he wasn’t talking to you…

There is no false analogy. You think that Brazilian portuguese and spanish are so equal it’s easy to communicate with each other, when it’s actually near impossible. And you have no basis to support that, other than your “friends”, while people who come from Brazil and from the speaking part of the Latin America say otherwise.

If we don’t speak the same language, and we can’t communicate with each other properly, then we can’t really play together. Just as a chinese and a japanese wouldn’t.

And I never said I didn’t like them. You also have no basis to assume that, other than being stupid.
Just stop.

I didn’t say they were the same. I challenged the OP’s claim that Brazilians can understand English better than Spanish. Basically the question is, is it better for Brazilians to be on a predominantly English speaking realm or a predominantly Spanish speaking one, or to have their own.

Kinda, it is not the same but Latinos can understand a bit of portuguese and vice versa, it is not exactly the same but if you know like 0 english you will understand better a Brazilian than an English speaker.

Yeah, the thing is that most (by far) brazilians know more english than spanish. Our country is way more close (culturally speaking) to US than any other latin country.

Well again I would like the data to corroborate that.

The games that I have played with a Brazilian community always keep to themselves and never speak English like at all, they are the type of people that come to you no matter what language you speak and start throwing portuguese at you expecting you to understand them. But that has been my experience with games with a Brazilian community.

Please. Dear god Blizard give the Brazilians a server! I implore you. For their sake and for our sake.

In this post we can see how Blizzard doesn’t care about us Brazilians or Latinos, they just want the Americans to stop complaining and keep creating posts about it.
Well, if you called, you would have done this server at the beginning of the classic, separating both Latin and Brazilian together.
I don’t speak Spanish …
I find it very funny how some Americans get annoyed just to see people talking in another language, is it so bad to stay out of this conversation? Please, let’s grow people …
I will not transfer my character because it is much harder to speak Spanish than English.

Don’t care, welcome to how every english speaking player feels when they get stuck playing with a bunch of you in a dungeon group.

It’s pretty much total ignorance that creates this type of situation. Anyone who knows anything knows how Portuguese is very different from Spanish.

Lol at these people saying that Brazilians can easily talk with people from countries that have Spanish as their main language.

I’m from Brazil. I can speak English all day np - hence why I have most of my toons on NA dedicated servers -, but I won’t be able to talk with, say, a Mexican. Like… AT ALL.

Sure, It would be easier for a Brazilian person with no foreign language knowledge at all to learn Spanish rather than English, but you are ignoring the objective conditions.

Btw, “Portunhol” is just a straight up joke. It’s a way to make fun of someone who comes from a Spanish country and tries to speak Portuguese, but ends up mixing words in a weird way.

For funsies for if this was even true:

There’s this phenomenon called asymmetric intelligibility, sometimes what one language has and what the other doesn’t can lead to situations where a speaker of Language A can understand both Language A and B, whereas a speaker of Language B can only understand Language B.

Well the thing is that Brazilians posting on this forum are not a random sample. Since Brazilians who do not speak English are not going to be posting here.

As a Native Spanish speaker I definitely can’t communicate effectively with someone speaking Portuguese. I might understand some bits to get a vague idea of what they are talking about (sometimes) but definitely not close enough to make effective communication.

If we were talking about Italian then sure, that one is quite close and I can understand about 70% of what they say.

In general Mexicans and Brazilians can only communicate effectively when they both speak English since it’s very common for both but almost no Mexican will understand enough Portuguese nor Brazilian understand Spanish to a degree for us to communicate in those languages.

it really is similar to spanish, and yes I do speak portuguese and understand spanish, so I know what I am talking about. What you may not understand is if they start using slang. but then again the same happens if you use brazilian slang while speaking to someone from portugal (or vice versa). same language, and yet you won’t understand the other person

The OP is asking for a Brazil-only server. Now that will be a dead server.

no such language as Brazilian. it’s portuguese. Different accent, and at times different slang, same language

Read again I used the word Brazilian as a person from Brazil not as a language.
