Brainstorm a way to fix boosting/150mob mage farming

Seeing a lot of people in favor of keeping mage AOE as the epic power that it is, thank you all for coming to my thread and sharing your support for mages. I appreciate all the opinions and love given to mages, you will receive your +7 int and conjured cookies in the mail.

I’m a mage booster. I’m around 600g now doing WC boosts. Not that it seems to matter in this thread but, it was NOT easy learning the pull and improving it. Difficult and frustrating at times but its paid off and its actually pretty fun now. It feels like the dark souls of wow.

That being said. I do think its too strong, specifically the healing aspect. I think we will likely see some sort of change to the healing portion because that’s what makes it so powerful.

However, even if they changed the healing aspect. Mages will still be able to do the same pulls, just not as efficiently. Heck even right now you could run frost and improve blizzard doing the same pulls. Would it take longer? Yes of course but this isn’t going to stop mage boosting nor do i think they should change the uncapped AOE cap. Its one of the main reasons people play mages in classic.

I understand i have a bias but i’m trying to engage and offer solutions, so my 2 cents are:

  • Make some sort of adjustment to the healing so that mages cant face tank an entire dungeon.
  • Change the XP rewards so that people cannot AFK at the entrance or add something so that if there is a max level, they get little to no XP

I think these are fair solutions that keep the power of mage AOE the same, while doing something about boosting.

What does everyone think?

Nerf healing on living flame and it will fix the most broken of the Mage mass farming.

put in that weird knockdown/stun mechanic when you kite a mob for too long hehe

Mage players thinking they deserve a gold farming method that is about 10x higher than any other method in the game simply because they “spent time practicing routes” is peak comedy.

It should have been hit when AE was. They’re both AoEs that heal based on damage done and it’s an odd design choice to not have them use the same modifier for healing.

Why nerf it? Just make a mage alt and farm gold. Easy.

Aren’t the amount of people able to do it supremely small? And most of their gold isn’t from drops but from Boosters paying them gold?

because they cant.

the amount of people actually able to do the full pulls is very small. i would say 2 or so per server small.

they are mad they cant.

This game is 20 years old, mob behavior and pathing is extremely understood especially after years of classic. There are players from 3rd world countries that do this because it is their literal job.

battle toads is over 20 years old by now isnt it?

can you complete it fully or even a majority of people complete it?

Who cares. We are locked at levels forever now.

definitely not that small, my friend picked it up after half a day of attempting it and boosted my mage alt since I needed a gold farmer.

they picked up the full wc pull in half a day is what youre saying.

and they can do it reliably?

doubt there are many that can do that that quickly.

i get boosts more on these last 2 chars im lvling and havent seen anyone advertising full pulls . maybe 1 person.

Not sure what a full pull is, but I see people offering 170+ mob WC pulls all the time.

Just remove gnome mages please. They’re gross

First of all thank you to everyone who came to my thread to post and share their opinions, lots of good commentary here. It seems like the majority of people love their mage friends and don’t see a problem with aoe farm. I appreciate the support.

do you go in those runs at all and do the people doing them die alot ?
