EDIT: It’s been a little over 2 days now and my friend is still unable to access/play DF on their EU acnt. Not sure what is going on?
Last night I gifted a friend Dragonflight from the EU store, for their EU account, via the e-mail option, as it wouldn’t let me use the b.tag option. Didn’t know we had to be b.tag friends for 3+ days so the email version seems to have gone through fine.
They said they got the email with instructions right away and managed to apply the key or whatnot to their EU region. It’s about 20h later and they say it’s not working/able to play DF yet?
Not sure what’s going on.
We’re still battlenet friends (although that shouldn’t matter for the email option)
We both reside in same country and normally play with US accounts
My Blizzard acnt says ORDER COMPLETE
I definitely paid in Euros and changed to the EU shop
Cant think of a reason why they would not be able to play DF on their EU account despite the above?
Not sure what’s going on. Wanted to send it as a surprise gift opposed to just giving someone cash to buy it themselves but I feel like that might have been the easier option.
I’m hesitant to do any kind of refund etc…especially around x-mas time as I feel like this is going to take some time to clear up. But I also don’t want to make them sit around forever on holidays not being able to play.
If they were to go buy DF on their own so they can play right now, would I even still be able to get a refund since they used the code in the email already?
Not sure if it’s even possible to have 2 of the same expansion on one account.
I’ll ask again later I don’t have an exact error code or anything but I think they said something about it looked like it worked but hasn’t applied to the acnt yet.
This does look like it went through - but since it is so very new, a little time may also be in order.
One thing to have your friend double-check - that he is absolutely certain he is trying to apply it to his EU license, and not one of his other non-upgraded NA licenses.
Thank you for the prompt reply! Appreciate it.
However, do you mean Dragonflight is “so very new” or gifting in general?
Will they have to wait days to play it? If so, can I just request a refund and send them money to buy it themselves?
I’d rather not as that seems like a hassle for everyone especially if DF will be active on their account soon.
Yes, I also did double check to ask them to make sure they’re selecting the correct drop down in the menu or email or whatnot.
OK, I will ask them to check their game/acnt again after midnight maybe to see if anything has changed.
Is gifting an xpac normally instant or is there always a bit of wait?
Also, in the rare case my buddy did accidentally apply it to a trial acnt or something, is there a way for them to fix that? (don’t think a game from EU shop can even be applied to a US region?)
Right. I have no idea how this works as I’ve never gifted an xpac before. Just assumed it would be instant for my friend to play.
For the refund, if I choose to do that later, I assume that would be a support ticket I’d have to open up?
What I’m trying to figure out though is, if they go ahead and buy it now so they can play DF finally, will I still be able to get a refund if they’ve applied the key from the email? Which I’m sure they did since they said it’s not working yet.

Right, wasn’t sure if that’d even be possible for them to buy DF if they already applied my gift…unless they put it on a trial acnt or something. Not sure if that’s fixable.
I just don’t want to them to have to sit around for days not being able to play. Hopefully everything works fine soon.
If you just edit your posts and not reply to thread itself, then the edit goes unnoticed because the thread doesn’t pop up.
If you’re not the OP, then normally it is best to make your own thread. “Bumping” threads is generally frowned upon.
But, in this case, the news is the same for the both of you. If it’s been over 24 hours for you as well, and the OP is stating that it’s been over two days for them, then the best thing you can do is submit a ticket for a Purchase Failure. You can do that here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/contact/167/ticket
Do not let the estimated wait time that pops up fool you. Most account issues are addressed within a couple of days.
