Yes, the very best will always have a higher price. Personally, I would expect the very top crafted items to be on par or maybe a bit more expensive then Mythic Raid BoEs, since they fill a very similar niche in the market.
I’m sure some folks will only go for the very best, but when the difference between the the best option and lower quality options is only 3 ILvl per tier, it’s not nearly the same as loosing out on a full standard tier level difference of 10-15 Ilvl like we had with SL legendaries. Overall, I expect that you will see a lot more people being willing to go with the only slightly weaker options.
And you are absolutely correct that we really don’t have enough information to dive too deep into analysis as we’ve only had teasers of information and one major news article released on the subject so far. But based on what we have seen, I think it is safe to say that we should not use the SL legendaries as a comparison point for the following reasons.
- DF gear will not have often over-powered abilities associated with it, which drove numbers up often to absurd proportions for high demand abilities.
- DF Crafting mats will be cheaper then the artificially inflated costs (gold-sink vendor items) we had with SL Legendaries
- DF will not require you to craft a ton of the lower level versions just to be able to make the higher level item…which in SL drove costs up a lot as crafters tried to re-cooperate losses
- Item level jumps will be smaller then what we saw between legendary tiers (all 5 quality levels they described for an item are within the the ILvl jump you saw between just 1 SL legendary tier level)
