Gear is not borrowed power and we all know it. When someone says “borrowed power” they’re not talking about their gear. If you were that pedantic everything is borrowed.

Tier and legendaries are absolutely borrowed power. They’re not a borrowed power SYSTEM. There’s a difference.

It’s power we get to keep until a new patch/expansion comes out and we have to replace it. Tier sets especially are borrowed power.
People don’t hate borrowed power, they hate some of the systems that it manifests as and they then confuse that as hating borrowed power.

Any gear is borrowed power even from the simplest grey or white gear you get from when you first create your toon .
What is going away is the borrowed systems of Legion -SL that are passive talent trees that we we build upon during the expansions then loose everything we built up in those systems at the end of the expansions.

Not wrong. Since the beginning of this game, tier has always been considered borrowed power, as are legendaries.
Not exactly. It’s considered borrowed power if it’s got effects like tier and legendaries. I’ve never heard anyone refer to my dungeon blues as borrowed power.

Thing is when people talk borrowed power they are not talking things like tier that add a little bonus they are talking about systems that are full on passive tree systems that we build upon during the systems expansion by basically releveling at max level to get said abilities.

OP is referring to crafted gear though. The ‘Legendary’ tag is just referring to the quality.
You’re right that Legendary effects are borrowed power.
And as I said, there’s a difference between a borrowed power system and borrowed power. But you’re right. It is the disconnect.
If they make normal gear legendary quality and it’s not a legendary… I give up on this game.
Of course, legendaries have become crap, too, over the past few expansions.
TO be honest I think the last real legendary was the ring from WoD .
Everything since then like the trip over them ones of Legion and the Lets make crafting matter again ones of SL have been imo Orange is the new Purple.

Oh….
I thought they were going away from this sort of stuff.
Hopefully our spells won’t rely on these legendaries to be good.
I was hoping so. I want real crafted gear. At all levels. Real crafting. Not just max-level-spend-a-billion-gold-and-farm-your-but-off crafting.

I barely even participated in the legendary gear this expansion. It was sort of overwhelming.
