Boosting level Requirement?

Initially during Blizzcon it was stated that you needed a 58 or 60 in Classic to receive a character boost for BC. Now it seems you can only buy a boost.

I have searched everywhere on websites and forums and cannot find clarification.

Do you still need a 58 or 60 on classic? Is that now irrelevant because you can just buy it? And do you even need a current classic character or can you just buy your way in.

Help ASAP please so I can level or get back to beta. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you do not need an existing character to boost, as far as I know at least. I wasn’t aware that was a requirement even at blizzcon. On the forums, some people (not many) have wanted it changed to require an existing 60. It’s currently available to anyone and that’s the way I think it should be.

To be clear, everyone has to BUY it. You don’t get a free boost whether you already have a 60 or not. It is limited to one boost per account.

It wasn’t, it was always something they brought up for new players.

It would make far more sense to lock the accounts WITH a 60 than to exclude accounts without one. The boost is ostensibly a “catch-up” mechanic for new or returning players - not a “buy a professional mule” mechanic that most people are treating it as.

When did they say that? I don’t recall them ever saying you needed to have a 58-60 toon. You don’t need that. The whole point of the boost is for players who didn’t play classic to be able to boost a toon to play with their friends. Your toon only needs to be level 1 to boost.

Here is the official news release about the Dark Portal Pass (its what the boost is called). Nowhere do they mention a level requirement to boost.

The misinformation train.

Even with the post you made last week it’s still out there circling around and around.

But we are shills for pointing to the answers we have. What can we do eh?

I mean everyones questions take a 2 second google search to find out. They just believe what they hear and come to the worst possible place to get answers. The people on Reddit and the Forums are just as clueless. They haven’t read the actual press releases and support articles.

At no point was this ever stated

That is simply false. The boost is aimed at players who DO NOT PLAY CLASSIC.

The boost is NOT for players who are already playing Classic. The entire purpose of the boost is to let you play TBC WITHOUT forcing you to level 1 to 60 in Classic. That’s why it exists.

Perhaps you heard about the boost at Blizzcon and assumed it was a feature for you. And you play Classic.
