Boosting for Starter Shadowlands Quests?

So long story short I want a character that can get to the start of the Shadowlands quests/storyline like, right now (which would enable me to party sync with my guild into the ‘old Maw’ skybox etc.). So instead of leveling another character to 50, is it possible with either a Shadowlands boost or a Dragonflight boost to get to 60 without having skipped any of those quests? I’m not sure if that would be a default thing that such boosts would skip them, but I’m not sure - never tried (all my characters and boosts from the last year or two have taken the level-by-world-quest option).

If not, I won’t go for any boosts for a long while at least. But if either boost means we don’t auto-start in Ch. 3 Korthia or something, then I’m in. Could anyone clarify that for me?

Anyone? I’m ready to do this right now and get a boost

Pretty sure I still get nagged with the SL intro quest on a boosted 50.

Just logged into it and the quest is there to start the SL intro.

I don’t think we can boost to 50 anymore right? It’s 60 now… And I’m wondering if it might be better to get a dragonflight boost vs a non-dragonflight boost

Well, I can’t speak for the Dragonflight boost as I generally get the physical Collector’s Edition, but as it is a level 60 boost, I would have to imagine it works just like the current paid level 60 boost.

Your wording isn’t exactly very clear on the matter, but I assume you’re asking about the intro quests for Shadowlands. If so, a level 60 boost should auto flag all the intro stuff as being done and put you ready to start the Covenant campaign (or skip it and go straight to Korthia/ZM if you’ve already done those intros on another character)

Mind you, I’m basing this off previous CE boosts I’ve had as I’m not a tool that has more money than sense as it really shouldn’t take someone familiar with the game more than 12 hours or so to go from 1-50, or about 24 hours to go from 50-60. At the very least, I can say that a 110 boost I had back in Legion put that character past the Broken Shore intro, and even had some of the early Class Hall stuff already done, but that was back when it was current content. Same with the Garrison back in WoD into Legion. Characters I’ve had since then have had to go back and do things like get the Garrison or Class Hall set up as those features weren’t relevant to later expansions and high level boosts.

Also, bear in mind that that in Dragonflight, Chromie Time uses BfA as the default leveling experience and carries you 10-60 after you get out of Exile’s Reach.

TLDR:

  • A level 60 boost from a Dragonflight pre-order will most likely act like the current 60 boost and put you past the intro for Shadowlands and straight into the Covenant campaign, so long as it is used prior to the launch of Patch 10.0
  • Post 10.0: That boost will put you right at the start of Dragonflight and might not allow an intro skip on Shadowlands as BfA is technically the default leveling experience

Technically, no. I want to say it was Patch 9.1 that bumped up the shop boost from 50 to 60. As a result, I fully expect the shop boost to become level 70 once Patch 10.1 is released.

However, the digital Complete Edition that is intended for new players (or folks wanting a secondary account for whatever reason) has currently been updated to include a Dragonflight pre-order. That comes with both a Shadowlands character boost (which is still level 50 and will need to be used BEFORE the launch of 10.0) and a Dragonflight boost (which will need to be used before 11.0)

Here’s the support article for the Level 60 boost:

This sounds like it’ll just skip the Maw stuff put you past the Threads of Fate mode.

OP, you may want to ask on the CS forum.

It’s not entirely clear but the way I’m reading this is that you won’t be skipping any covenant campaign stuff, etc., but you will be skipping the SL intro quest chain for sure.

Well, there you go then.

Didn’t know there was an article on it as I never use any boosts outside of what comes with the Collector’s Edition. I was just going off personal observations from those boosts and memory.

Wait what, two boosts one of which is a level 50 shadowlands boost? That wasn’t a typo? Lol I don’t see that indicated anywhere on the Dragonflight pre-order page

Boosted my little mage (Epic) and was suddenly in Icecrown on one of those flying boat thingies with a quest giver and a bunch of npcs in combat training.

Given that my action bar was bare of all my spells on arrival and I needed bigger bags anyway, I took myself to SW first to get organized, but haven’t been able to figure out how to get back to the flying boat thingie in Icecrown - or even whether I was supposed to get back there at all. I do hope I haven’t missed some important quests in that area.

It’s all just a smidge disorienting.

Would be lovely if one was given some kind of note on arrival with maybe an indication of what one is supposed to do next and where one is supposed to get started.

I’m still flapping about like a headless chicken trying to figure out what to do, so I went to Oribos and chose a covenant thing and assume that’s the grind I’m meant to be doing between now and Dragonflight’s release?

p.s. Tangled Dreamweaver mount + Murkastrasza + Drakks are just adorable. Kudos to the artists.

Yeah it is you’re good; the shadowlands intro thing gives you an idea of your class and some context of the ongoing (presumably losing) war vs the undead on Azeroth. No way to get back to it but you can see it on an alt!
