Booster toons losing BG matches is really getting obnoxious

Probably going to catch some flak for this, but does anyone else feel like it’s really obnoxious that boosters in disaster gear are queueing en masse for BGs and – depending on how many are in a particular pug – end up causing huge losses?

I was recently in an AV where 25+ allies went all in on Drek with three towers capped and still wiped. There were booster toons left and right, many of which were level 58. Lots of ret paladins, rogues, etc. Horde ended up winning with only two towers capped shortly after.

Really, really frustrating stuff. I don’t mean to offend the people playing boosted toons because they need honor points / gear too, but man… it’s a hard pill to swallow when you’re getting crushed by a better geared team.

It’s annoying but its the cause of Blizzard giving boosted characters like lvl 30 greens when they first said it would have been dungeon blues.

Well, I fully expected it, as should have everyone, so if they are trying it’s fine. if they are like AFKing it’s not fine.

I see lizards on the other side too, as long as they are fighting hard for each win and doing what they can I’m fine with it. Especially with how many “true non-boosted players” are AFKing the battlegrounds for “quick marks” when its just quick marks for the opponent.

I don’t really see the difference between fresh 60s and boostees though.

Fresh 60s are more used to their controls but yeah…with Rogues one shotting fully geared BiS warlocks with a single ambush…not much with lower gear will really survive long either.

Half of my ABs in 50-59 last week were boosted teams. Was rough. The Alliance has like an army of boosted Ret Paladins and Rogues that seemingly have no idea how to play either their characters OR the objectives of the battlegrounds. We just started premading to avoid them.

I don’t want to imply that every boosted character is being played poorly, btw. I boosted a Balance druid and I have ~14 years of retail experience with the spec, a level 60 Horde druid, and I played Dreamstate on pservers for about 2 years. I had about 30 macros ready to go the second I made the character and I’m extremely familiar with it. I’m certainly not the only person that boosted a character they already know how to play at an advanced level.

But man… there are a lot of Alliance boosted Rets and Rogues that seemingly have no idea what they’re doing. Doesn’t help that half the boosted Horde characters seem to be Warlocks that can tab-DoT with a Felguard pet out and do 100k damage every match passively.

I feel your frustration. Although the boosted gear will be a thing of the past at 70… these players will still be queueing. And that worries me.

You really can’t compare your experience in late Classic AV with early BC AV. As I remember, it was always harder to win early in an xpac.

The most annoying thing is seeing a boosted prot paladin in his lvl 30 gear inside a battleground… like, an actual waste of space

Well look at that; maybe boosting that honor would of helped wouldn’t it?

Nice job Kaivax. For ignoring so many people looking for their equal opportunity when that massive honor bug happened.

Edit: btw he unlisted some threads and posts regarding it. Top notch management.

Boosted characters are literally a non-factor. If you have 3 its a 7vs10 in wsg. Doing no damage and dying faster than hunter pets is not my idea of fun. There needs to be some variety of restriction on boosted characters, because I wont que bgs on my geared toons anymore due to how bad the boosted gear is. There’s just so many of them.

Premade or bust.

People complained about boosters getting non trash dumpster tier gear so blizz hooked them up with 7 stam pieces worse than lvl 30 crafted greens. Maybe you should complain about those people

I mean…you’re not wrong. However this very thread has existed since classic and continues through every expansion.

Just replace booster with undergeared toon and its the same thing. Even back in original tbc prepatch there was a bunch of complaints about fresh 60s trying to get epics. Is what it is… will always be an issue when you have too many undergeared toons on your side.

And yea, even in original prepatxh there was A LOT of undergeared players. It literally gives incentive to people to take there undergeared alt for gear over a main looking for 1 or 2 pieces.

Edit: Although back in the day it was more just undergeared mains cause the level of geared toons were far lower than classic.

People shouldn’t of cried about boosted toons getting actual decent gear.

I’m shocked! This is a completely unforeseen predicament. :joy:

My boosted character has over 50k honor and 40 of each mark. Once i hit 70, its game over for all of yall.

Try being horde we get to wait 15 minutes only to get Alliance losing premades one after another. Sooooo damn fun waiting to not even get to kill people.

“I don’t heal, I’m prot spec”

-boosted human pally in AB today

Even in OG tbc prepatch the same thing happened. Instead of it being 58 boosters it was an army of fresh 60s. This was due to the fact that a lot of people were changing mains. You also had people that never did pvp that wanted that high level pvp gear.

This is how it goes every prepatch. Boost or no boost. People want gear or are playing flavor of the month and ignoring objectives.

You seem to pvp a lot how do you not know this?

Like I get the frustration. I generally spend prepatch telling horde to play the objective. They all be like derp Hks.

i mean both factions have boosters. get gud
