So I bought Cataclysm classic pack. Used the boosted character to create a Paladin.
I try to get into random dungeon groups (because I just resubbed, therefore I don’t have gold or up-to-date characters), and even if it’S a random normal group, I get instantly kicked for being a Boosted Character.
What was the point of Blizzard giving crappy greens to boosted characters, if I can’t even play the game ?
I can’t join groups…so I can’t get gear, which prevents me from joining groups.
What are my options ? No gold to buy gear on the Auction House, can’t raid, can’t do dungeons.
What was your strategy because clearly my brain may be too smooth for me to find an alternative to gear up, so I’m all-in to hear a good strat to gear up!
Hit WG like twice and head to area 52 to pick up a full furious main set + weapon. Can also continue the honor grind and get wrathful offset and easily hit 4.8k gs
Right, You’re defeating the purpose of the game world by bypassing all the explorations and quest just to get to the end game.
Know what I’d do, if one buys the boost… I would sell the gear and send the gold to a newly created chara. This way you don’t feel so bad about miss exploring the world. So for 60.00 USD, is it worth having a few coins in your pocket on a new low level chara?
or would it work better and more of a challenge IF your chara came without any gear when boosted. I think one would feel more obligated to explore the world… but still miss the low level quest.
@Cooperbrew: I’ve been playing retail since Jan 2005. And I’ve also played Classic since it released in 2019. I think I’ve seen all the quests around…20 times maybe ? On both factions ? As for why I ran out of gold: I was raiding Naxx 25 and quit. But inflation hit WotLK kinda hard and the 800g I had saved isn’T worth anything nowadays.
The only real option for you is to start doing these things
Spam battleground to earn like 120k-150k cumulatively. This will be enough to buy full 239 Furious PvP set (At Area 52) and some off pieces.
Start working on Sons of Hodir shoulder enchant quest chain.
Get to “Friendly” with the faction that gives you the right head chant 3.1 Kirin Tor = Caster DPS 3.2 Argent = Tank 3.3 Ebon Blade = Physical DPS 3.4 Wyrm Accord = Healer.
Once you get about 4k GS, that should allow you to queue for Gamma dungeons.
Run them non stop.
In about a week, you will get 245 trinkets and full 232 set.
This should all you to start pugging ICC 10 and TOC 25.

Ideally, google your server’s discord and see who is recruiting. If you do have previous experience, or like a long time WoW player, reach out to GMS/officers directly via discord and just talk to them.
I have seen too many ‘boosty boys’ in dungeons, with no idea how to play their class, or rotation green gear that’s worse than lvl 75 blues, they die in one hit because 13k health…just lol
if they are a healer it’s a guaranteed wipe
I did the same thing, I boosted a Paladin to 80 but my intention with it is to play it in Cata so it’s just sitting there waiting for Cata to drop and so that I can get Cata BoE’s.
Go to BGs/WGs to farm welfare purples. You’ll jump to 5k+ GS in a week and no one will care about your gear anymore. Yes some of the stat is wasted on resilience, but the gear is good enough for gamma so no one cares. Note that you can queue for WG on your way to 80 and already be honor capped by the time you get there, meaning you get a headstart on buying the items.
I think the point of having a boosted character service is to help the bots catch-up easier for farming. After all, they are people too…
No, wait. They’re not. But they ARE paying customers who have shown they have money to spend on their setups and farming systems. A level 80 character can farm FAR easier and FAR better stuff than a low level one can.
Not knocking your purchase, I just don’t think you were the intended market for the boosted character service.
