I messed up, but it wasn’t entirely my fault. I gave in to peer pressure and decided to buy a boost for the TBC Anniversary. Unfortunately, when I logged in, it defaulted me to the PvE server Dreamscythe. I primarily PvP, and all my friends are on Nightslayer.
I only realized I had made a mistake when my friend could not invite me. I ended up boosting a character on Dreamscythe and am hoping for some assistance. I have already opened a ticket.
That was definitely the right step.
However, just to set the proper expectations. If a refund is granted, the character that was boosted will be locked until another boost is applied to it. However, you’ll be able to purchase a boost for the correct character once the refund processes.
If you do want to play the previously boosted character again in the future, you would need to purchase a boost to unlock that one.

Thanks. I will not be playing the character on Dreamscythe for sure :3

I hate to be the bearer of bad news and it never hurts to ask but I found this in the Support pages: Customer Support cannot provide corrective services to boosted characters. If you boosted the character on the wrong realm, or chose the wrong faction or race, you may use another intended character service to correct the mistake.
That’s true, support cannot undo a boost. There is no way to de-level a character.
What can be done though in some circumstances is the boost refunded and the character locked. The user would need to purchase a new boost at some point if they wanted to play the locked character in the future.
It sounds like that wouldn’t affect the OP here so hopefully they are able to get a refund and purchase a boost to use on the right character this time.

I hope so too. I logged out right away when I realised my mistake, and it was a very genuine mistake. I did not realise the default server was different to where my friends were, being new to anniversiary
Were you able to get this resolved? If so, about how long did it take? I did the same thing yesterday, was intending to be on Nightslayer but I didn’t realize the realm had switched to Dreamscythe, and boosted on the wrong server.
I realized it within 5 or 10 minutes and haven’t played the boosted character since. I submitted a ticket but no response yet, and wait times are showing about a day and a half currently. I’m pretty much stuck and can’t play with my friends until I get this resolved.
Just so you’re also aware, a refund is not always guaranteed if already used the the in-game items such as the Character Boost.
In-Game Items
We’ll refund most items that you buy with real money and receive in-game within 14 days of purchase, as long as you have not claimed, opened, or otherwise used the item.
Examples include:
- World of Warcraft Shop Items and Bundles (Pets, Mounts, and Cosmetics)
- World of Warcraft Character and Guild Services
- World of Warcraft Tokens
- StarCraft II Commanders and Mission Packs
- Heroes of the Storm Boosts
Hearthstone products are generally non-refundable. World of Warcraft WoW Tokens become non-refundable once listed on the Auction House. Opening a single item as part of a larger bundle, Battle Pass, or similar purchase counts as claiming that bundle and makes it non-refundable.
Refunds are not designed on you using the service on the wrong characters.

Thank you for the info. I’m not looking for a refund, I just want the boost applied to the character I’ll actually play. I realize it’s my mistake, I should have been more careful and noticed the realm had switched.
I’m OK if Blizzard wants to take a hard stance on this, but if I’m out 60 bucks for something that didn’t benefit me at all, I’m going to have a really hard time ever spending another cent on my WoW journey.
It is not possible to reverse a boost. Your only option in this case is to open a ticket to Purchase Failure and request a full refund of the boost. This will completely lock the character going forward so that it cannot be used, without a new boost being applied to it. In your ticket you can advise that you understand the current boosted character Name/Server will be locked and no longer playable.
Once they have locked the boosted character a refund will be processed, at that point you can purchase a new boost.
Typically the wait time on tickets is 2-3 days.

That’s pretty much what I’ve done so far, I have a ticket open for Purchase Failure. I explained the situation and that it was fine to lock or delete the boosted character. I think I had less than 10 minutes played, didn’t even leave the initial spawn area or get my action bars set up fully.
The only hiccup is that I purchased the $80 pack that includes a boost and game time rather than the stand alone $60 one. I don’t see it being refunded fully (nor should it be). I don’t want to complicate things more by purchasing another boost and asking for it to be refunded after use.
Unfortunately the expansion pack will complicate things, as if you have used other parts of the package, such as the game time, it might prevent them from doing the refund. Good luck

If you have purchase the expansion pack that included the boost, and consumed any gametime within it, then sadly, it will be the refund ineligible.
And Blizzard does not do partial refunds to any services included part of the expansion pack.
