Boosted character and can't do certain M+ dungeons

I spent $60 to boost my character to 60 and then try to do mythic plus Iron Docks and Depot to find out that “Recently boosted characters can’t do legacy dungeons. Try again tomorrow.”

What’s up with that. Can you please lift that ridiculous restriction?

I don’t see an option to edit, but the character is Tarnisher (Vulpera Warlock) on Tichondrius

Too many bottom feeders using stolen credit cards to purchase a boost, use the high level character to farm or transfer gold, then moving on before the CC fully cleared.

24 hour cooldown was put in place shortly after the first boosts were part of an expansion release in WoD to make it more difficult for thieves.

As far as I’ve been able to find out this seems to apply specifically to the older dungeons that are currently Mythic+ with the Season 4 update, like Iron Docks and Grimrail Depot. It does not appear to be intended and something that is being looked into.

True, and I think that is what is causing these dungeons to be grouped with the normal boost restrictions. I think they are looking how to uncouple the regular dungeon restrictions with a boost for the version of the dungeon that is obviously not part of the older expansion.

While Blizzard is looking into the issue, is there anything that can be done? To spend $60 and then have to wait 24 hours to do Iron Docks and Grimrail Depot as an example defeats the purpose of boosting. I could have just leveled up and been doing M+ today instead of having to wait till Blizzard decides I can benefit from the service they sold me.

Some suggestions:

  • A partial credit for the boost
  • A GM fixing my account in the interim while they look into the issue
  • Some game time
  • A mog,
  • Something

There is no way to bypass it.

After 24 hours that character will be able to do all dungeons and any other content (if any) that may have been restricted.

There’s always something they can do. It’s not impossible. Whether they want to or not is a different topic.

The system is hard coded in, it cannot bypassed. Wait for the 24 hours is up is your only recourse right now.

Do you work for Blizzard? Are you a developer for World of Warcraft? Are you the software engineer that developed this system?

He may not be any of those things, but he’s still correct.

Oh, so you’re the one that developed this system?

Nope, we just understand how it works as you’re not the first person to come in asking that the timer be removed only to be told by a blue that the system is hard-coded.

That’s how we know.

Unless our text is blue, we don’t work for Blizzard.

But we’ve been around long enough to know it’s not something that can be bypassed.

I understand you are frustrated, but you got what you paid for - a character that is level 60 without having to level it yourself. The fact that 2 dungeons you want to run are restricted for the first 24 hours only, doesn’t change that.

I appreciate that, but if you look at my post, I’m not exclusively asking them to remove the restriction.

I asked if there’s anything they can do given I paid for a service that I can’t fully take advantage of because of an unexpected and unintended bug in the game.

The suggestions I offered are very doable. Maybe not all, but I can assure you at least two are.

You’re certainly welcome to put in a ticket and ask for one of those things, but realistically, you aren’t out anything except some time not being able to do some very specific dungeons.

There are no GMs on the forums though, so a ticket would be your only option.

And with ticket queues being as they are, it would quite possibly take longer than waiting out what’s left of the 24 hours.

We generally do not provide compensation for bugs, so that is unlikely. Even so, that is not something that Customer Support would have any input on.

Specifically, this is not something that can be circumvented. We have no means to remove the cooldown.

No, and neither is anyone else who may be posting in the CS forum. If you wish to provide feedback on the issue you will want to either post in the relevant forum (General Discussion by default) or submit your suggestion through the in-game option found in the main menu under Support.

As frustration seems to be running high, and I wouldn’t want anyone allowing their frustration to cross a line, I’m going to lock this one up.

As previously mentioned, we’re very much aware of this issue and it is being looked into. It is a high priority issue.
