Boosted a Hunter, skipped tutorial. Can't use Tame Beast

I boosted a level 1 hunter gnome and somehow skipped the tutorial on taming a pet. I have tame beast but im unable to move it to my macros.

Are you able to use it from the spell book?

I wonder if this might just be a misbehaving addon or UI issue. If you do want to try it, do a Full UI reset.

Classic or Retail?

In retail, all hunter tools are in a button called Pet Utilities under the general hunter’s tab.

solution might be to find the npc who gives that quest, and do it. if it’s not some UI issue or mistake.

but I’ll certainly give that one to you, that’s a poor outcome of a boost

EDIT: I boosted a hunter in classic, the only problem was I didn’t have any pet skills, I had to go out and buy and gather them. not a great boost outcome there. any 60 hunter would have those, the boost should have included it. it’s like boosting a warry or other non-pet class and having missing skills.

I don’t think it a classic hunter, seeing how there was a tutorial he skipped. If I recall Classic boost didn’t have a tutorial.

You can’t be a gnome hunter in classic so I’m assuming the OP means retail. Do you mean you can’t add it to your action bars? You could try to move the comprehensive pet utility icon to your bar from the spell book, then clicking to expand it to access the tame beast spell if that works.

Good catch, didn’t see the part about a “Gnome” hunter.

Are you trying to move it from your spellbook to your action bar or from the Pet Utility option to your action bar?

If the latter, you may have your action bars locked, preventing you from dragging the icon from the Pet Utility onto the bar without holding down a specific key (i.e. Shift).

Otherwise, definitely start with resetting your UI as Perl suggested.
