Alcon,
Please bolster world of warcraft servers so that large scale world pvp can happen without everyone lagging out in the zone. There was a large battle on tichrondus last night with warmode on in durotar and the server was completely frozen for most of the fight.
World pvp is still a thing and it is a growing part of wow again. Please fix your laggy servers so we can do our thing. ON top of this I was fighting alliance in stormwind the other day on moonguard and it was really laggy too.
Not everything in this game is about end game content.

Not everything is about World pvp either.
It doesn’t just effect you and what you play.
Lag is everywhere no matter what content you do.
The real and reasonable thing(which we know won’t happen) is they do a full server upgrade for everyone.

This is why we will need “WoW 2”, eventually. Move everybody’s characters and collections over to a client with smoother engines, far more robust servers and some polish to old armor models etc. With a focus on horizontal, evergreen content. Player housing is a good start, but there are many more things… Including even those that used to be a common part of the game (such as world pvp) but have declined due to systematic decisions (e.g. M+ focused class design, centralizing rewards, splitting the game into 100000 versions, etc.). The most important thing for the feel of an MMO world – is to have everybody in the same world. I’d also expand cities and landscapes if possible for immersion.
This is the only way the game can grow long-term, in a healthy way. Think back to the Vanilla to MoP days. The game had a foreseeable future, but it also kept innovating while being loyal to its roots and making its feedback loops visible and engaging. None of that is promoted now, and hasn’t been since WoD. 2015 was exactly the beginning of the Anti-MMO trend. I’d argue that has been ubiquitous to entertainment, actually. Anti-human philosophy and pseudoscience - willful ignorance of data and change for its own sake, etc. Lead nowhere but destruction. I firmly hold WoW can still FAR outshine its competition for years and even more decades to come. It just has to maintain its integrity. We don’t need Classic simulacra for that… No, that just harms the game long-term. We need this “WoW 2” just as I described it. I’ve thought about it for years consulting with players of various levels and styles of play. This is what should have been done for 2020 instead of Classic. It’s almost infuriating, and feels like betrayal. Players could easily have been made to feel like they are playing any version of the game they want to, WHILE in the same world as everybody else, bolstering activity and competition. Again, horizontal content. WoW is the only MMO that refused to utilize its open world, which is FAR superior technically… The servers being old and weak are the only real problem besides incentivization and socialization.

Agreed, the servers struggle even with a 40v40.
Even though the player base is smaller than before, the lag is still pretty rough.
Also give us some open world pvp content

And how do you suggest that they do this? Some of the servers have huge populations. Are you saying there is some obvious server upgrade that will enable their servers to handle all of this extra work? If so, what?
Remember Wintergrasp on high pop servers? It was like 200 players on Tuesday that lagged so hard it affected the entire server.

They could upgrade their servers to newer ones with better specs for one thing. They could also upgrade their network for higher bandwidth.
So do you know what specs their servers currently have and what their bandwidth is? They could be at the max already, or at least at the max of what they can afford.
Remember, each server has to bring in more money in subscriptions than it costs to run otherwise they would shut it down. No business can stay in business long if they are losing money.
If all of their customers quit because the game is unplayable because of lag can they stay in business?
Nobody is quitting cus large scale world pvp is laggy bro.

Ashes of Creation proposed sharding technology does that to an extent.
We’ll see if it really works when the games goes live.
There comes a time in many businesses where there simply is no way forward. If there is a solution that would work then fine, try it. However my point is that you can’t just assume that they are running servers that can be upgraded that easily. If they are already on top of the line hardware with fiber optic network connections, where do you go next?
Now if they are CPU bound they could look into off loading some CPU to GPU but that’s probably a major rewrite. And that is ** IF ** they are CPU bound. Unless you are trying to find the next prime number after a billion and six, most applications are not.
it isn’t just world pvp that is laggy though. Stormwind on goldshire is constantly lagging. and it’s bad in alot of places with or without world pvp.

Some servers are probably overloaded. Once I switched to a new PC with SSB I stopped seeing any lag at all. But then I’m probably on a server that is less crowded.
40v40 in an epic BG lags too.
A team fight in IOC at the Hanger… server lag happens.
Wargame 40v40 - is also unplayable.
Open World PVP - lag kicks in during fights.
Its server lag too, since everybody can experience the lag, despite people having good internet connections and a computer.
There has to be a fix for this issue.

World PVP died with the Lich King, and so did PvP servers.

World pvp is on the rise again actually.

The only good servers for it are classic. I’ll be staying on MoP classic for that reason when it comes out. I can forgive all the poor world PvP incentives with the new expansions in recent years… But the fact that this has been ignored for years, AND WILL in fact continued to be ignored for many more years is a major disrespect to the community that still values open world faction conflict. What’s the point of the zones and war mode if you can’t fight in them? You have to tell people they can’t come because the game can’t handle it? Cataclysm classic handles 100+ vs 100+ so smooth it’s night and day.

I am glad we agree on something.

Considering the vast majority of people don’t engage in world pvp, then your request will likely go unanswered.
