BNET maintenance question

Not here to complain, just here to ask if anyone has gotten through it? Like if you are playing right now is it because you were logged in already? Or did you make it through the login process?

JW if I should stop trying to log in now lol.

You should stop trying to log in because they changed the message to say that it will now be unavailable till 12 pm PST. I tried logging in for 40 times before they changed the message and so I gave up.

I think those people who were online were always online or didn’t log off.

This is the message I’m talking about

aw man a friend and I were gunna try to run some 2s. Hes logged in rn but must have been logged in since before it was up. Hes on the west coast tho

strange they did such a long downtime on a monday

I think they intended for ppl to be able to eventually login but something happened with their maintenance and so they changed it to say that the game will be unavailable so people dont keep wasting their time trying to login

The message did not change. The message for Bnet Maint has said that since it was posted. What they did was duplicate the message in more places seeing as some people had missed it. This was addressed on the CS forum a bit ago to explain where the original messages were, and why they added even more.

still Kinda stinks some people are in and others are not(both of which pay the same amount for the game)

but it is what it is.

What confused me was this message that I saw on the launcher initially which didn’t say that it would be unavailable just that there would be slow logins

As a reminder here is the later message again:

The two messages are similar but not the same…the later message said the game would be unavailable for play which is when I stopped trying to login so their message change (or addition or what we want to call it) worked.

They are both correct. Battle.net Authentication is an umbrella service for all Blizzard games. However, not all Blizzard games utilize this service in the same way so not all games will be impacted the same way during a maintenance on this service.

For some Blizzard games, if you’d recently been logged in then you’ll be able to log in during this maintenance. However, for World of Warcraft you would not be able to. Even if you were playing when the maintenance started but disconnected for any reason, you cannot log back in.

So the umbrella notification on the launcher is more general - “slow or failed logins” because it’ll depend on which game you’re trying to access.

When we added it to the WOW sections this morning, we opted to use the Unavailable framing because it was specific to the WOW section.

I have to say thank you so very much for this post. Finally a straight forward answer.

We CANNOT log into wow right now. Good to know thank you very very much for not leaving us in the dark.

And for those of us who weren’t even logged onto the launcher, the Maintenance Alert on the Bnet launcher login screen still says : We will be performing scheduled maintenance beginning on Monday, March 28th at 06:00 (PDT). During this time, you may encounter slow or failed logins and be unable to complete purchases in-game and through the Battle.net Shop. We expect the service to be fully available again at approximately 12:00 (PDT).

…which gives off the impression that if you kept trying, it may let you log in, which apparently isn’t the case anymore.

Maybe they should change that message to “unavailable for play” as well, to avoid further confusion.

This would not be accurate for all Blizzard games. Failed logins are what World of Warcraft players are experiencing. Slow/Successful logins are being experienced by players of other Blizzard games.

If you are under the WoW section of the launcher it does say it is not available to play right now. The BNET one says the failed log in ect. But wow ITSELF does say we cannot play.

Players in this case that were online probably would not have noticed, unless they were kicked offline for some reason, so technically it would not have been unavailable for play.

It does kinda make me upset that I pay the same amount as my friend, hes able to play on some technicality of being logged in early AM and I am not allowed to play for some reason. Its frustrating.

No, it DID change. At first it said that login may be slow or Fail all together.
NOW it just says that it is unavilable until 12pm PDT.
So Yes. Blizzard DID change it AFTER they started.

Honestly for $16 a month for this game i would expect it to have less issues (-_-) they should issue everyone credits for these long offline hours.

it was scheduled for all services though, so its not exactly an issue

It looks like they’ve begun QA testing the database upgrades they completed this morning. If maintenance can be completed early, I’ll be sure to let you all know.
