did i cry foul? or say omg BM Is broken? No I asked what happened. I don’t do the ptr nor keep up on patch notes much. I’ve been a BM since i began playing in 2004. I don’t ever switch, nor plan to. Just curious what happened.

Yes

To maybe answer, they do a lot of balancing around tier sets so that is likely the reason. I don’t work at Blizz so can’t be certain.

No they did not? It was 20% just to Blood, which is part of a broader change for all Tank specs.

Lol then why are you concerned with a last round of PTR tuning?
Are you unaware of all the other Hunter changes coming in 11.1?

Please do not lie… BM wasnt a thing until 2.0, so dont say you have been BM since 2004.

There are some old hunters that played back in 2004 and see though the liars really fast.

I have been playing a hunter since 2004, that is correct. BM was released in what, cata? I believe patch 4.0.x ?
I played a fury warrior for about a month when i started, didn’t like it and rerolled to a hunter and never looked back.

Where are you all getting this from? Beast Mastery was one of the talent trees in Vanilla (just log in to Classic Era). The first mention I can find of it in the patch notes is 1.7 (fall 2005) but the printed manual that came with the boxed game I bought in January 2005 talks about each class having three talent trees, and if one of those wasn’t BM the change would certainly have been announced. Except for some periods during BC & Wrath where I specced into Marksmanship & Survival for raiding, I’ve always been BM.

Lots – maybe most – people in Vanilla mostly just leveled and did casual dungeons, and Beast Mastery was absolutely a thing for that population.

those nerfs did nothing, stop watching pointless click bait youtube tier list and updates. Get in the hunter discord and listen to everything being said in the PTR channels

Bm was a spec but it did not work until 2.0. You used a few talents from the top of the tree and put most in marks tree.

BM only became viable with The Beast Within talent which was the capstone talent in 2.0.

Just because they didn’t min-max doesn’t mean they’re lying?

Kind of, yeah. As I recall, BM was a gimmick at first. Most of the time people cherry picked the top of the tree for a few talents.

Every now and then though, you and your buddies would go run Scholo with a full BM boar tanking the run, or something like that, for ‘reasons’. Once you capped at 50g, the respec fee stopped seeming as bad.

It’s a minor need and BM was overtuned.

Our 4 set is still likely to get nerfed as it’s over performing as welll.

Then might want to hold off on making complaint posts

I would have expected better if that was the case.

You don’t even do content where these tuning changes actually matter.

  • Beast Cleave effectiveness reduced to 80% (was 90%).

  • Kill Cleave effectiveness reduced to 80% (was 90%).

  • Call of the Wild now reduces the cooldown of Barbed Shot and Kill Command by 25% per pet summoned (was 50%).

  • Fixed an issue causing Dire Command to grant stacks to Huntmaster’s Call.

  • Fixed an issue where summoning the Pack Leader Bear granted stacks to Huntmaster’s Call.

  • The first two notes total about a 4% nerf to AoE, pretty easy to calculate

  • The Call of the Wild change is a bit sad to see since it changes gameplay, but it’s a) more of an impact on aoe/hybrid cus ST wasn’t looking to use COTW b) Hard to estimate right now, come back with numbers.

  • The Huntsmaster’s Call “fix” was made last thursday and we assumed it was a bug but it was just announced as a “bugfix”. This makes Hati/Fenryr spawn roughly every minute rather than every 20 sec (only works on hard dire beast casts). This needs a proper sim fix to see the proper value.

In ADDITION they also:

  • Made our tier 4-piece poison proc completely scale off pet stuff/attributed to the pet and all of our buffs AND apply to our Animal Companion. This has made our 4-set EXTREMELY good to the point where it cancels out all of the above and then some. This might not strictly be a “bug” but definitely goes against how Blizzard generally designs tier sets (They dont make 30%+ dps tier sets). Expect this to be brought back into line for this reason.

The above is from the TSL discord ^^^^

This is also kinda outdated cause the tier set mutagen damage has been nerfed

How much was it nerfed? I didnt expect it to go live as is either way

It’s called balancing. Numbers go up and down on the ptr. The net gain is still more than was started with. Chill

They are lazy with the beastmaster. As people start to gear up and hunters start falling behind 10-15% again, they will up the percent. Just like the last season. Instead of doing a real fix on the damage scaling, that is how they are doing it.
