They wouldn’t care now if there wasn’t r+ and m+ arcade modes. WoW went lazy on content and it will never be 2004 again.

This has way more to do with the community advancing and other technologies than WoW. Back in 2004 there weren’t content creators. YouTube didn’t even release until 2005 and Twitch was many years after that. The amount of knowledge was much more limited than it is today.

I starting playing just before WotLK release, and even at that point the addons weren’t nearly as nice as today and the main source (only one I remember using) to optimize your play was the Elitist Jerks website. Nowadays there’s tons of different websites and videos for just about everything.

No, it doesn’t. It has to do with Blizzard designing content that is arcade like, just like I posted. In the original, you cleared dungeons to advance to the next tier. That was the function. You didn’t have to do them over and over until you were sick of playing. You could do whatever you wished. You didn’t have to worry about what you were playing, because all it took was any healer, any tank and any dps to clear a dungeon and get what you needed to move on. You could clear Molten Core in blues. As you progressed, you got faster. You didn’t just go up a level to have to gear all over again. I am sorry you missed the actual glory days.

The end is nigh.

I played at the end of BC, which was still like vanilla. Still had to level up my warrior weapon skills to hit anything. Still had to walk to the dungeons.

There’s good and bad between both versions. I still like the modern changes and most of the QoL we have now, which is why I’m here playing and enjoying. If it was all doom I’d be off doing something else.

All of this is still true today. Can definitely clear LFR in blues and should be able to clear normal in a mix of blues epics, more or less depending on skill.

There is a difference between each level, so you do in fact get new challenges, so it doesn’t feel the same to me.

You did MC to do BWL, you did BWL to do AQ40.

In TBC you did Kara and Magtheridon to get the gear to do SSC and Gruul, you did SSC and Gruul to do Tempest Keep, you did TK to do Mt Hyjal and Black Temple. You did hujal and BT to do sunwell.

Its always been about ā€œleveling upā€ though gear at end game.

He’s talking about running the ā€œsameā€ content to gear up. Run normal of Sunwell to get gear, then run heroic Sunwell to gear up more, and finally mythic Sunwell to get geared up again.

And while he’s right, the scenery doesn’t change much, the content does change as it gets significantly harder, so it’s not the same as just running it over and over again.

Same is true for M+. It keeps getting harder each key level so the challenges is what adds the fun and keeps it fresh so to speak even though the dungeon is the same.

No, you gear up a level and the difficulty don’t go up much, you learn to dodge a bit more. If you played the mythic 1 right and did the mechanics, there is no difference from 1 to 15 except your gear, the damage the mobs do, and how efficient your output. Snooze fest. I played pac man before. After screen 100 it was pretty boring no matter how fat I got off pellets. This is an mmo, it is not exciting to see yet another piece of armor I am going to turn in to a set piece but 4 ticks higher. It is lazy or Blizzard’s part and boring.

Yeah yeah. Blah blah.

Peace
