BM Hunter PVP

Despite the never-ending tuning, revamps, and buffs to BM it, is still absolute garbage.

Talent Tree
BM was totaly overhauled, and has somehow gotten even worse than in DF. 9/10 talents are clones of each-other designed to give back Barbed Shot and Kill Command slightly faster. Bloodshed is probably the single weakest cooldown in the game, and call of the wild is gated behind Killer Instincts, an incredibly polarizing talent, that most people do not want to waste two points on. Kill Shot based talents are now used as gates to get to dire beasts, which have their own host of issues. Being such a pivotal part of our dps, but having a 30% proc cance makes the effect a hit or miss, where sometimes you have an army, and other times you cant bring fourth a single pet… By far the WORST addition howver, is basilisk collar… BM is now a dot spec, relying on their constant application to buff pet dps, thus forcing us into Dark Ranger, for the black arrow and serpent sting dots. And. it. gets. worse.,… pets deal 4% more dps based on ANY dots on the target… if you just so happen to have a DK and a lock on your team, your dps is pumpin. Otherwise you hit like a wet noodle. Last, and most annoyingly, the inconsistency to the phrase “your pets deal an additinal X damage” is absolutely appaling as there’s a 50% chance that this phrase increases dire beast damage, and a 50% chance it has zero to do with Dire beasts. Ive had to test each and every individual buff, learn what applies to Dire Beassts, and still end up doing zero dps.

Hero Talents
Dark Ranger is so much more powerful than Pack leader that its actualy absurd. Not only do they fullfil their role as a shadow magic using ranger, but they also perform the function of Pack Leader far better than they do, with the use of Dark Hounds. Upon first glance, pack leader appears to have a lot of stacking modifiers to your pets basic attack and extra basic attacks. Despite appearances however, they ammount to a 2-4% dps increase, topping out nowhere near what could be considered a strong ability.

Demo and Unholy
What truly amazes me, is how the other two pet specsc were blessed in terms of teir talents. Unholy can summon the iconic 4 horsemen of death, who possess a range of abilitys and add a huge level of flaveor to the spec. Demo also gains the ability to call in multiple massive, strong, and very cool looking pets to fight, and aid spells… It is such a disapointment to watch Death kights, and warlocks get everything weve ever wanted, while we get stuck with a spec that focuses heavily on the Hunter’s attacks, (black arrow) while ignoring any aid to our actual pets, other than a sligt buff coming from dots that just so haooen to be apart of the tree.

No Justification
Many say, that BMM should always stay on the weaker aend because its a faceroll spec, and while this may be true, noone plays it because its “easy”… BM hunter is withuoght a doubt the coolest concept in the game. the Lich king, but with a brain, using a bow to fight from afar while summoning undead minions to fight for you. We’re the closest it gets to a Necromancer, wile still being a unique new feeling concept. AND unlike any other class, we can also choose our pets and create a stable full of our desired beasts which come out in battle…

Please Devs… Please stop treating us like an unwanted step child…

The spec is unwanted, though.

Except that it is.

Not that there’s anything really wrong with that, but it’s the truth. People play BM because it allows them to get the most results with the least effort.

not at all lmao

Imagine reading that

BM hunter is easy to play but it shouldnt mean it has to be garbage or weaker than any other spec, last season i started on pvp and played all 3 specs to 2k mmr and the easiest was survival, followed by mm and only then bm

BM needs buffs

They shadownerfed kill Command by 20% in pvp per hogx

BM does not need buffs

You’re right it’s a bug fix since they just forgot to apply the buffs from PVE into the PVP modifiers

My thoughts on BM Hunter is mixed. When they made Kill command require LOS I think that was a step in the right direction. I think it would also be another step in the right and also be less toxic to go up against if the made more of the damage come from active abilities more than passive. Bring down the damage of dire beast by a decent amount and spread it to active abilities instead would be my recommendation.
I do think its much less toxic to go up against now than in the past.

Dear diary

It simply amazes me how old this game is and they still cannot get Hunter right.
