Overall the nature of Holy, I think would attempt to dominate the sunwell. I don’t see any argument where Holy isn’t a weed like power source when it comes to pushing others to the way side.
I’m not saying Blue Eyes can’t happen. I just don’t see it happening and would agree it makes no sense, and agree with Cezol if it was to be added it would have been already alongside Golden Eyes but Golden Eyes being first tells the story again, Holy is saying “Me! Me! Me!” In terms of influencing its users when given the chance to show Holy and Arcane as equal, Blizzard presented Holy as the dominant power by only adding Holy Golden influenced eyes.
I have those super neat frost and gold and red looking gladiator sets with the crown on my priest, that stupid back spikes thing clips with everything.
(Commentary): I find it suspicious they dodged the question at Blizzcon to be honest, so I would hazard a guess that blue was not on the table at the time. I believe it was mentioned elsewhere they had over 40 new customization options planned for Blood Elves. That having been said, we won’t know what’s coming until Alpha/Beta data-mining happens, and nothing is truly final until it goes live.
As of now what we’ve been told of the sunwell is that it is “Just as much Holy as it is Arcane” not that one is predominant.
I think mainly gold eyes happened because they were trying out new things like Night Warrior and figured that the light using classes would be the ones most fitting for a trial of eye color options in this system they made before deciding to go to a new customization system for Shadowlands. It’s one of those game things that I think is best not thought about in lore terms. Like all characters of a race (other than the important story ones) share identical body types. It’s not that all gnomes are the same height, just that that customization isn’t in the game.
Your own intro says “holy font”, ill give you that the Sunwell is also half arcane, but if you got to choose the arcane part they would of also given you that as well under the same lore narrative. If you want to cry for blue contacts for Blood Elves, go ham, but don’t pretend you’re not actively twisting lore to get what you want, when you claim “Blue eyes for Blood elves makes lore sense”
Or you know, they chose to keep that distinct aesthetic look to the Alliance High Elves that already have those eyes, so i guess, if you want to walk around and see Blue eyed Blood Elves, the Alliance is waiting for you…
Those NB are actively choosing to use their powers to cleanse. Normally we do not see an arcane rampage of “I must dominate everything” that we see in Fel and Holy.
Left alone would Holy magic act as a weed? I think yeah they’ve shown how it influences people and it has a mind of its own. Arcane I feel like is more submissive in terms of who it’s used by etc not actively seeking to dominate.
I believe that this was misdirection on their part.
Once you start separating things like face, eyes, eye colour, and such into new customization compartments, it adds up quickly. I am… hesitant to be optimistic, though we shall see.
(Commentary): I don’t disagree, 40 new customizations includes skin colors, eye colors, possibly hair colors, hair styles, jewelry, beards, etc…
(Commentary): It’s also possible that the cleansing in Suramar is only possible due to the city’s high saturation of arcane magic to begin with. Its not as if we see Highborne Mages cleansing Felwood.
Let’s say high elves were released tomorrow, you would for no reason beyond alliance blue horde red make it so the two factions of the same race had one eye color locked off even though the lore supports them having it?
