Bloody Token upgrades bugged. Consumes Torphys without giving you the item

On my rogue I had 2 RARE [Drakebreaker’s Shiv].

I had 16 [Trophy of Strife].

I wanted to upgrade to 2 EPIC [Drakebreaker’s Shiv]

Both RARE Daggers were equipped.

I went to Malicia (the vendor who sells upgrades) and purchased 1(ONE) EPIC [Drakebreaker’s Shiv].

The EPIC [Drakebreaker’s Shiv] was put into my bag and I had 1(ONE) RARE [Drakebreaker’s Shiv] left equipped. I had 9 [Trophy of Strife] left.

I right clicked another EPIC [Drakebreaker’s Shiv] from Malicia.

7 [Trophy of Strife] were spent.

0 (ZERO) New EPIC [Drakebreaker’s Shiv] appeared anywhere on the character.

I was left with 2 [Trophy of Strife] 1 RARE [Drakebreaker’s Shiv] 1 EPIC [Drakebreaker’s Shiv].

I put in a ticket about this and without addressing the issue I was sent an automated response linking me to help articles and wowhead.com none of which were able to help me. Pretty frustrating to be put at a competitive disadvantage if this is not fixed.

If you can, reopen the ticket. Otherwise, create a new one and include the ticket number from the previous ticket.

There have been reports of this being a known issue, and that GMs are refunding the trophies and original items. They should be able to help you out.

Moving forward, put one of the weapons in the bank and do each of them separately.

Same thing happened to me today. Had 1 Drakebreaker Shiv dagger already upgraded and the other one still the normal 366 version. Used my Trophy of Strive to upgrade but it got consumed and the dagger that got replaced is my upgraded dagger. Opened a ticket about it but Blizzard resolved the ticket without resolving the issue. Feeling quite pissed off.

Blizzard, please address this issue.

They are working to get this issue fixed. It is a known issue, they just do not have a resolution as yet beyond GM assistance. Hopefully there will be something soon.

But first, you’ll want to remove the vulgar language from your post. It wouldn’t do to be dinged for that. Being irritated with the situation doesn’t negate the rules and CoC. They are really cracking down on infractions like that, and while I can respect that you’re being unfortunately impacted by this bug, I’d rather not see you sanctioned for it.

Secondly, there is another bug wrecking havoc where tickets are unable to be reopened like they should be. Normally, there is an option once a ticket has been resolved where one can reopen that original ticket to the tune of “I still need assistance.” For whatever the reason, this comes up a lot here recently where people cannot reopen their original ticket.

While it’s not ideal, create a new ticket. Reference your original ticket # and that you could not reopen it like you should have been able to do.

Apologies for the expression used. I am quite annoyed, for lack of better words. Glad to hear a fix is on the way. At this point I would rather focus on getting the conquest gears.

It’s all good, I just didn’t want it to come back and you get in trouble for something that could be easily avoided.

I would honestly still put a ticket in, just to cover all angles. Just because progress has been made does not mean it will for sure be fixed in the next day or two.

Yesterday, with my Primal Infused Drakebreaker Shiv w/Earthen Writ enchant equipped, I went to Mailcia to upgrade my 2nd Normal Drakebreaker Shiv - also equipped. The confirmation screen explicitly stated that the Normal Drakebreaker Shiv would be upgraded. Instead, it overwrote my Primal Infused version and effectively erasing my 3-star 21,000g enchant. I placed a ticket.

Very early this morning, they reversed everything. I had my original Primal Infused Drakebreaker Shiv w/enchant and 7 Tokens of Strife sitting in my mailbox.

This time, I placed my Primal Infused Drakebreaker Shiv in the bank in attempts to avoid this from happening again. I went to Mailcia and, again, carefully read the upgrade confirmation screen stating that my Normal Drakebreaker Shiv was being upgraded. After confirmation, a Primal Infused Drakebreaker Shiv appeared in my bag. However, my Normal Drakebreaker Shiv was still equipped! Either I just got a free Normal Drakebreaker Shiv to sell to the Vendor or it overwrote the one I had in the bank. I found it to be the latter!!

This is most definitely a bug! I reopened my ticket asking to reverse things again and to hopefully get a response to an ETA on the fix.

You should definitely add this situation to the Bug Report Forum. They may already know, but it never hurts to let them know that it’s happening with this method.

I copy/pasted my reply in this Thread and immediately posted it in the Bug Forums too

PS - GM responded to me not long after with:

"I looked into this, and I can confirm that this isn’t working as intended, but you might have guessed that already ! Therefore, I was able to restore the Epic Drakebreaker’s Shiv that was lost, and I have deleted the Rare version, as this is what was supposed to happen in the first place. This means that you won’t need to take any risks trying to upgrade the shiv again !

To shed a bit more light on the situation, what happens is that, if the item you try to upgrade is equipped, the game creates the upgraded version as usual, but then deletes it instead of the base item, which leaves you empty handed (well, with the shiv in your hand, actually, but not the one you expected), and with your pouch missing some trophies.

As a temporary workaround, I kindly recommend, for future upgrade attempts with Storm Sigils and Trophies of Strife, to make sure that the item you wish to upgrade is in your bags and not equipped on your character. While I know that this isn’t an ideal solution, this should at least prevent the item from being deleted while we work on a fix for this situation."
