Blood Elves

I’m really confused as to why are you bringing this up. I simply answered to you saying this:

Which is why I retorted with a jab towards High elf for not honoring their dead friends and families because allegiance had nothing to do with it… why exactly are you bringing up the time and now which ones are playable it’s honestly beyond me.

Before Arthas there were already High Elves who decided to remain members of the Alliance when Quel’Thalas left. Some went to Dalaran (and later further spread), others went to Outland. Today we can find them as well in Stormwind, Boralus, some High Elven settlements, etc, etc.

The elves of Quel’Thalas eventually would forsake their “High Elf” or “Quel’Dorei” name, as decided by their governorr Kael’Thas ("…we are no longer high elves"…) and became Blood Elves or Sin’Dorei. They also changed alliegances such as Illidari, Demons, Scryers, Horde. Furthermore they had drastic lifestyle changes and of course the fel enegery that made their eyes green.

Meanwhile the High Elves or Quel’Dorei of the Alliance remained the same as they were.

Because some people think Sin’dorei are Quel’dorei, need to learn the definitions before a dialog can be started.

They are biologically the same. However, they are politically and philosophically different. Thus those who consider themselves High Elves side with the Alliance. They never became Blood Elves because the separation between the two factions had already occurred and they were elsewhere.

May I ask where is your empathy about the concerns of the players that are against High elves then? Because those are a thing too.

But they are the same. The only difference is that some don’t want to honor their fallen brethren and follow the Alliance. Allegiance doesn’t make them that different.

The difference is the parallels your suggested are flawed in the sense that they’re not applicable to the topic at hand. You suggest retconning all of Goblin lore to suit joining the Alliance as a comparable example when this was not done with the High Elves joining the Horde. The deteriorating relationship between the Alliance and the High elves was prevalent in the RTS games as well and suggested numerous times in lore.

You can only add in so many hypothetical “What-ifs” before your example becomes contrived and loses all relevance. If I was Alliance, played Warcraft religiously, and had knowledge of all the lore I would not be surprised to learn that the High Elves/Blood Elves would choose the Horde after almost being executed at their hands.

Your example with the goblins boiled down to “How would you feel if they retconned all of the goblin lore to join the Alliance” to which point there is no longer even a parallel to draw from as the examples differ so much from one another. I have little empathy for the opposition because they tend to brush aside the lore that supports them joining the Horde.

Would the addition of High Elves to the Alliance hurt someone?

We’re not talking about lore. We’re talking about emotion. How would you, personally, feel if Goblins went to the Alliance?

You know where he’s going, it’s blatantly obvious…and here it is:

Lore is the entire predicate of your question. “How would you feel if the goblins joined the Alliance.” well the only reason I would “Feel” anything is because of my knowledge of the lore surrounding goblins. Your question was only about “emotion” as you so claim your question would be “If you knew nothing about Goblins in WoW how would you feel about them joining the alliance.” And my answer would be, I would not have a problem with it because I would not know any better.

It might hurt population balance. Of course you could say it may not, but if your speculation that it won’t it’s to be considered, mine about being a possibility should too.

Not to mention the fact that the model is already in the Alliance, albeit partially modified, and still more distinct than High elves would be… let’s put it this way since you wanted to try so hard to compare them to goblins, but let’s use a closer example; what if humans became playable in the Horde? Would that upset you? Would that take something from the Alliance?

And then, it also risks watering down the lore of the Blood elves. Again, I’ll remind you that you’re free to speculate that it won’t, but you know, all speculations being considered and all that.

I would have been fine with it, in fact, goblins could have very well gone to either side because a lot of them just do whatever they can for gold and riches anyways. They played a bigger role in Warcraft 2 and I missed them dearly in Warcraft 3 but as a whole, the goblins really could have gone with whoever cashed the biggest paycheck and been alright from a narrative standpoint.

But then if the lore were changed to reflect that (IE: let’s say Sylvanas just puts out a hit on Gallywix and he takes the Bilgewater to the Alliance), would it still bother you? Everything you knew about the Goblins, at that point, would support them doing so.

Are you saying that putting one faction’s race on another race would make people uncomfortable?

So you’re dismissing everything else and tunnel vision on your personal point?

Ok, I’ll humor you.

But only if you answer my question about Humans. At least give me that since you’re ignoring everything else?

This whole situation was started by the DEVS, and they made it worse with the introduction of the Ren’dorei, If they would have done the right thing in the first place, and made the Silver Covenant a playable race for, the Alliance like the Alliance player base asked for this discussion would not be taking place. It would not hurt the game and make the alliance player base happy.

But wait, you just said it was not about lore, and now it suddenly is about lore? You can’t have your cake and eat it too. You claimed the entire point of your line of questioning was to evoke empathy around High elves not joining the Alliance? Strange how you seem to ask me to only ignore lore when it comes to why the High Elves joined the Horde, but now want me to acknowledge it for your question on how I would feel if goblins joined the alliance. Well if I’m to be “truly” empathetic to the Alliance, shouldn’t I just ignore the lore and just be angry anyway?

You are no longer looking for thought-provoking questions, but rather attempting to contrive this conversation to suit your agenda in the conversation. And it’s both dishonest, and rather immature to be honest.

It isn’t. If the lore were changed, would it still bother you?

it is some kind of weird fetish for an horrible fantasy games cliche, in other words they just want some ardolf friendly waifu

It would bother me that the lore was changed, so by extension yes.
