well, until they had their racials nerfed…
They just suck now.

Even a quick google search showed that Blood Elves only had a 1% higher portion of the playerbase in comparison to humans in 2019.

To suggest they’re the most played by a ‘significant’ margin compared to humans, is still disingenuous. Yes they’re the most played – but come on …
True, but what if some Blood elves decided that the plants and animals of nature should serve their elven masters as the Arcane or Fel or Holy?
Personally I’d say just make a Tauren Druid and be done with it but I like trying to explain how such things could work.
I don’t even how dracthyr made it to warlocks and not monks.
Model rigging. If I had to guess, Blizzard probably had no plans to open Dracthyr to other classes but the sheer volume of people wanting a lizard hunter or something made them decide to do so but they never put the animations for monks on the Dracthyr model.
They have the same model rig as worgens, but it could be because something about their body size options, I was going to race change another character to dracthyr if they could be monks.
wait really? I thought that they had their own model skeleton. Or well, using the Incubus one.
That’s why I’m specifically stressing that they should be different. As has been mentioned they use runestones connected to their mother tree Thas’alah in conjunction with the Sunwell.
Lore wise they have the perfect opportunity because healing the dead scar is a major goal for them
Try reading the sentence before.
High elves had druids in WC2 and then Blizzard moved druids over to night elves for WC3 and the high elf druids were never mentioned again.
Funny enough to the nature of the thread — I keep seeing druids post here with the same mog (20th Anniversary set) and initially thinking they’re the same person until I see the names
First Thoughts: “Man this guy gets around, commenting bloody everywhere at every moment!”
{A few moments later} …
“Oh, wait …”
I could see Blood Elf Druids. Their flying, ground (mount/travel forms) and aquatic seahorse could be unique.
Make that into a class!
Noting that there’s ther’s an artificial reward aspect to this. They don’t give it right away just to inflate its value to eventually give as a patch feature in the future.
Whilst that may be true, Blizzard still haven’t said that they’re giving all races all classes.
As previously noted →
And all of that is arcane (and now with some Light mixed into the Sunwell) magic. Its not Druidic/nature magic. IF BE’s want to heal the scar they would do it through arcane means. The whole reason BE/HE and NE split was because they didn’t want to be druids and NE’s didn’t want arcane users. That distinction is literally the whole reason why they evolved into to separate races.
That said, I have no doubt one day you will get BE druids. As I already stated Blizz has obviously tossed lore into the toilet at this point. When they get around to making art assets for BE druids will be the determination of when you will see them.
Please tell me you’re not basing this off because we got LF Dranei Warlocks.
The Eredar exists. If players want to play as that, no lore was really broken.
That is one example. Sure. Certainly not the only one. LFD definitely shouldn’t have Warlocks. I get them letting Draenei have warlocks so people could rp Eredar. It was a lazy way to add them without doing a whole Allied Race for them.
Like I said you can go clear back to NE Mages to see where they started stretching the lore out of shape to fit these kind of class combos. And plenty more just outright break it. And class/race combo’s aren’t the only examples, but that is a topic too big for this thread.
Look I’m not even saying don’t add BE Druids. At this point have at it. I’m just saying tossing more trash on the heap isn’t going to make it smell any better.
It wasn’t so much that they didn’t want to be druids, it’s that Malfurion had outright completely outlawed & banned the arcane & any magics outside of druidism; which is what lead Malfurion to exiling them (as opposed to executing them, as his formerly declared punishment for breaking such a law was).
As for their evolution, the majority of the exiled Highborne were lead by Dath’Remar Sunstrider — Who spent their waking hours striding amongst the day in the sun as opposed to the night (Hence their name) – Their path lead to the ultimate founding of Quel’Thalas and the creation of the Sunwell → Their purple skin eventually shifted to skintones like that of some humans and dwarves; some sources imply this was a near-instantaneous transformation that occurred during the Sunwell’s creation.
I will!
Don’t add BE Druids. It’s really stupid and doesn’t make any sense. They’re more magisters.
