You have an Eagle. You’re not without a pet.
Correct, but another way that can be taken is let people do what they want in solo content and focus the balance on the other content.
They would be Rangers if Bliz was not too cheap to make a whole separate Ranger hero class and stop hijacking MM hunters
It is not a pet. It is Bliz devs giving MM spec players the bird, which is just a spell effect.
And then the pet goes away.
I don’t like it either way, but that’s not a pain point in that you have to summon your pet, then you can use intimidation.
It’s absolutely a pain point. Two talent points not counting prereqs just to maintain a basic fantasy? And that’s just reclaiming one lost ability.
I’m sure there were people who wanted to keep ranged survival in solo content. But as we’ve seen, there are plenty of melee survival hunters today. If there are that many in high-end content then there are even more doing solo and casual content.
Provided they just don’s just swap specs for any reason out in solo content…
You’re spending 1 talent point, not 2. Intimidiation still takes a point to get otherwise.
And even then, it still gives you another benefit - a 5s CD reduction. I find there’s usually more than a few points you will often just ‘shove’ around, so the extra point sink isn’t that bad.
I think they might be talking about the attack speed boost for not having your pet out talent.
Trigger Finger?
You’d take it even if you did run a pet, it’s a 5% attack speed buff for you and your pet.
and 100% speed buff if you drop the pet
You mean haste, not speed, right?
And their whole point is you need to spend talent points to be able to use something without a pet - which for intimidation, only costs a single point (and it still provides some benefit even if you do run a pet - though 5s isn’t a whole lot)
is it haste? I’d need to double check. I only briefly looked at the talent just that it provided a 100% boost on something if you dont have your pet. I only recently leveled an MM Due to the “controversy” so the talents arent all super ingrained in my head yet.
Yeah, speed is running faster, haste is shooting faster - Trigger Finger gives you 10% haste if you’re not running a pet vs 5% for you and 5% for your pet.
Well yeah, but an Eagle is technically a beast of the wild so…
I was counting Lone Wolf itself as part of the fantasy as well, and again, neither of those talents being on the first row they both have prereqs as well.
It’s still two points I could use elsewhere (and will, once the change goes live.)
I have a pet peeve with my hunter that I’ve never seen discussed.
According to hunter talents:
- You either have no pets and are able to “do better.”
- You have 2 (+24234 that get summoned) and can “do better.”
I just want one pet at my side and be able to “do better”.
Honest question, is that possible currently? I’ve been taking a break from WoW because I’ve been getting frustrated with it.
I woke up, saw over 80 posts in this thread. I said to myself, is it the same few arguing over and over in this thread.
Sadly I was right.
I think the few hunters waiting to test MM are the smart ones because they are looking to see what is up prior to crying about the sky falling.
This person gets it.
Blizzard just needs to add more classes to fill out other niches, MM is kinda just a filler for a true marksman class…but because we have been so heavily restricted over the years class wise (we have only seen 4 classes be added since launch) blizzard used hunter to fill out the marksman niche
It doesn’t take testing to know that losing access to your pet is a huge nerf to solo play. You can dismiss your pet right now and already test that part out.
