Blizz's definition of "Balance"

One of my biggest complaints is why isn’t there a hard cut off of ilvl for the lower spectrum of rated BG’s/arenas? It makes gearing x10 longer when other people are paying for a carry. Also, there are advertised carries from websites all the time, how has blizz not found a way to constantly ban them? and my final thought “Balance” in general among classes in pvp, specifiaclly arena. Ret pallies. why are they always on crack and do crazy damage, and the healing is just as good. Convoke shouldnt even be in the game imo. I’ve leveled 7 lvl 60’s this xpac, and I’ve got to say, pvp is all over the place. There is not balance. Within the current rated system, there should be sub divisions of item level. and/or past rating earned. Or some solution, If they have to remake abilities for pvp, then so be it, quit being lazy blizz haha. Obviosuly pvp and pve are going to differ anyway, so make a full commitment. I don’t know too many ppl that love doing both and do both equally, you either lean towards pve or pvp and do a small amount of the other one.

Gearing sucks

For the other stuff you’re either dr’ing cc prior to their burst or just not using stuff

If you have 7 classes at 60 and get wrecked by the same two classes consistently you’re just not learning how to deal with them

It wouldnt be so bad if they didnt change transcending philosophies every year

What do you mean gearing us great! Wow is an rpg which means numbers get big. The bigger the numbers the more rpg it is. We are looking at roughly an oblivion level rpg but to get to skyrim we need bigger numbers. To quote my boy abomb who loves this expansion, “this is an rpg and that means numbers”.

Yep gear advantages suck. Ion went full tilt with the “WoW is an RPG” mantra after seeing the success of Classic. The problem is that doesn’t apply to PvP. Unlike PvE, the PvP in this game actually improved over time as they slowly removed the RPG elements from it like gear advantages. Case in point look at TBC arena with stun resists, misses, etc. It’s nice when WoW has something for everyone. You want an RPG? Play PvE. You want to test your skill vs. other players? Play PvP. Want to RP? Go to Goldshire. Want to solo quest? Feel free. PvP doesn’t need to be and shouldn’t be subject to the same “RPG” design decisions as PvE.

Sure WoW is a whole game and you don’t want every area completely compartmentalized (even though players do this themselves), but it doesn’t mean you apply the same design principles to every area either. WoW PvP is it’s own thing and it’s better off being treated a lot less like an “RPG” and a lot more like a competitive gaming mode within an RPG (which is what it really is). The fix to a lot of this is actually so simple too: Make all PvP gear scale to max ilvl in PvP. Keep everything else the same. Easy, and guess what? They have the tech to do it at their fingertips and they actually just applied it on the PTR for the “BG with the Devs” event.
