Hi all. Looks like we’re close enough for the Blizzcon countdown thread to start. The idea is simple; post a WoW factoid (ideally from vanilla era but not required) that includes the number of days until Blizzcon.
Today’s example; the
pound red gill was introduced around patch 1.11 and was a cosmetic offhand item that was most commonly fished in Moonglade.
I look forward to reading your factoids/stories/etc.
The War Golem was a level 36 rare found in the Badlands. Near a mining pit near the northern entrance to the zone.
The Grant sisters, Kimberly and Kelly wandered around Stormwind during Vanilla and were levels 35 & 40 respectively though they didn't look a day over 21.
Giggler was a level 34 rare hyena that patrolled Desolace. Unless they figured out how to separate her from the pack of hyena she travelled with, she killed many a level 34 character.
One of the earliest World of Warcraft achievements happened when a player achieved 1337 PvP kills. Because 1337 was how the neckbeards used to refer to themselves as being elite.
Catfish and Salmon both had 32 pound trophy varieties. The 32 pound catfish could be found in lower zones while the salmon variety was upper level zones. Despite this the catfish vendored for several times more than the salmon. I guess the chefs of Azeroth had a southern flare if they realized fried catfish tastes better than salmon :)
Kadrak was a level 31 Orc placed in charge of defending the northern entrance to the Barrens at the Moram'gar outpost. He had to be a relatively poor commander. Either his horde superiors didn't trust him with enough resources to fix the broken wall section east of his position or he was just too lacking in leadership to get it repaired.
Artisan was a tier of professions that could be trained as early as level 30, assuming the character had reached level 200 in that particular profession. While 30 is mathematically half way to 60, timewise, level 30 was far from half way to level 60.

Level
30 is the time where you start realizing you actually wanted to play a mage and not a priest
Brother Ravenoak was a rare spawn level 29 druid friendly to Alliance and hostile to horde. He could be found sleeping in a den in Stonetalon Mountains.
Forsaken intruders were level 28-29 and located in Ashenvale. They were a group of NPC’s friendly to 1 faction and hostile to the other. Like the dwarves in southern barrens. In vanilla they could be buffed and even healed by friendly player characters. Such areas gave 1 a distinct advantage when goading others into PvP.

Please keep this going I like this thread :)
Sayge's fortune #27 started a Darkemoon faire quest that sent the player to Mulgore.
Wiley the Black was a level 26 human living in Lakeshire. Alliance players who wanted to complete the Deadmines quests were sent to see him as part of that quest chain (and to introduce them to the Redridge Zone.
Several rumors surrounded Wiley, like he used to be with the Defias brotherhood or maybe even helped form the brotherhood when he was a stonemason. Or that he enjoyed setting up overly elaborate traps that were doomed to fail in his effort to catch a particular road runner in the winding canyons behind Lakeshire.
Lok Orcbane was a level 25 NPC and quest objective for horde to kill in the Barrens.
Hillsbrad farmers and peasants were in the level 24-25 range before Undercity permanently over ran their farm. Given how common undead rogues were, good luck trying to find a farmer who's pockets had not already been picked.
Lupos was a level 23 rarespawn in Duskwood. Until his damage was changed from shadow to physical during the pet normalization, he was one of the most sought after hunter pets in the game.
Lakota'mani was a named level 22 Kodo in the southern Barrens near Taru'he. He was named after the real life great plains native American tribe the Lakota, from which many aspects of Tauren culture are borrowed.
Baron Silverlain was a level 21
And the second boss in ShadowfAng Keep. He could be skipped by going around the kitchen area but he dropped a couple of good tanking items.
